I like angry Steward maybe we should fire him up a bit more pre game. He's been everywhere tonight.

It was before that when he kicked the ball over the top of the sale defensive lineshanghaitiger wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 9:41 pmCompletely disagree. 2m out from his own line, slow ball - found a good touch.

I don't think there's much wrong with the squad, besides a backup 10.
The fact they look so poorly coached is a massive concern. Huge job to be done in the off season.

Not even a losing bonus point! There is so much international class in our squad...this is so sad

Disappointing result.
Am more interested in confirming our new attack coach and finding out who our new S&C coach will be than next weekend's game.
Kinda hope that Exeter get a point that means we're 8th no matter and then it truly gives McKellar free choice to blood some youngsters.

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

More garbage, no longer interested in what McKeller has to say. The guy clearly has not got a scoobydoo. I have said since half way through the season that I did not think he was the right man. Seen nothing to change my opinion in recent weeks, indeed quite the opposite.
Not sure I’ll bother turning up for the Exeter game next week. Got far more interesting things to do, jet washing the patio, cutting the grass, watching paint dry, to name just three.

So probably the kind of result we might have expected. There's a lot for next season's coaching team to chew on there though.
I hope the next S&C guy is already crunching the fitness numbers (if he can possibly know what the structure of the season will be).
A brilliant new attack coach is not going to fix the problem of coughing up the ball when under a bit of pressure, or of not being able to counter the opposition's smart/cynical tactics.
Regardless of game plan and fitness it feels like we'll be relying on some younger guys stepping up really quickly.
No doubt we'll hear a lot about how if only we'd had a bit of fortune in four or five games (!) we'd be top four. But 8th feels about right. At least the team, exhausted or not, didn't give up in the last quarter. Could have been much worse.

The thing that struck me watching Leinster play Saints the other day was the quality of their ball handling and retention even when under pressure...something we should try to replicate. Lots to improve on next season.

Not really, fans who are sick to the teeth of watching turgid rugby week after week with no improvement or cutting silly errors out. We never play the referee anymore either so are penalised for too regularly.ourla wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 9:52 pmLot of fair weather fans showing themselves this last couple of weeks.Yorkietiger wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 9:48 pm Not sure I’ll bother turning up for the Exeter game next week. I think one of our major faults is our passing and offloading, we seem to pass the ball at times in desperation, doing this means its rushed and results in a dropped ball usually pulling us out of position and leaves the opposition with an overlap, we defend things like this is desperation.
I think we tried hard tonight, some poor passages of play, particularly that lineout throw to no one, what was that all about?
Their offloading and delayed passing pulled us apart.

Just to clarify, we've lost the game, conceded the 4 try bonus point try and not picked up a losing bonus point....and this isn't a disappointing result? Is it because we only lost by 9 or because we didn't throw it away in the last 10 minutes this week? Some people are very easily pleased if that's not a disappointing result.
I certainly would hope and expect the players are disappointed with it.
