somebody said he was definitely going abroadGB72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 2:50 pm On the plus side, and there is not much of a plus to losing Jasper:
That is one massive salary that we are not going to be paying at a time when finances are not great.
It gives the chance for McKellar to get in a player or a few players that may suit how he wants to develop the team going forward.
Hopefully we will have half a season of a fired up Jasper wanting to go out on a high.
At least it has all been sorted early, is out in the open and we got to announce it rather than having weeks of rumours or another club rubbing it in our face.
That said, with them losing out on 2 big name signings this week, please tell me that Jasper is not going to Bath to make up for losing out on Snymann and Arundell. That would send me over the edge I think

I know it was mainly a joke but with Snymann moving from Munster to Leinster after having been nailed on to go to Bath or head to France, anything is possible.ay2oh wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 3:02 pmsomebody said he was definitely going abroadGB72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 2:50 pm On the plus side, and there is not much of a plus to losing Jasper:

The official statement from Tigers says he’s going abroad.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 3:01 pm This may come back to bite me, but with the money we have reportedly offered him, and by his own admission his love of Leicester, there is no way he is staying in the premiership.
I still think he will be returning back to South Africa

Barbeary has become a firm favourite at Bath.. i can't see why they would shell out for another high end no 8??GB72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 3:09 pmI know it was mainly a joke but with Snymann moving from Munster to Leinster after having been nailed on to go to Bath or head to France, anything is possible.ay2oh wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 3:02 pmsomebody said he was definitely going abroadGB72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 2:50 pm On the plus side, and there is not much of a plus to losing Jasper:

Wiese is apparently going to Japan, who offered 50% more than Tigers!

If that is the case, less rugby and so a likely prolonged international career and career in general and 50% more in salary, not sure that many could turn that down however much they may love Leicester and the club.LtPigeon wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 4:45 pm Wiese is apparently going to Japan, who offered 50% more than Tigers!

A 50% increase in salary would be a lot for anybody to turn down.GB72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 4:54 pmIf that is the case, less rugby and so a likely prolonged international career and career in general and 50% more in salary, not sure that many could turn that down however much they may love Leicester and the club.LtPigeon wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 4:45 pm Wiese is apparently going to Japan, who offered 50% more than Tigers!

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work
Quite conceivable he knew he had to with two marquee signings coming to an end and the cap having reduced. That being said there's no particular percentage mentioned and it's not like he'll have signed for peanuts. I'd be surprised if he's on less than £300k.Tigersunited wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:23 pmDo we really believe he took a pay cut? Easy sound bite

It's also quite a nice idea for Tigers fans to believe that he's unsettled at Bristol, even though there's no evidence at all that he is.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:54 pmQuite conceivable he knew he had to with two marquee signings coming to an end and the cap having reduced. Yeah I do feel it's grasping at straws a bit. His form isn't as good but that doesn't mean he's unhappy.Tiglon wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 7:55 amIt's also quite a nice idea for Tigers fans to believe that he's unsettled at Bristol, even though there's no evidence at all that he is.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:54 pmQuite conceivable he knew he had to with two marquee signings coming to an end and the cap having reduced. Perhaps I’m reading too much into it but the last paragraph says that our squad is looking healthy beyond this season so does that mean that we have already signed a replacement for Jasper ?kpj tiger wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 4:03 pm Jasper confirmed to be departing, absolutely gutted
