Veainu returning
I was surprised and saddened to see that our old favourite is coming back to the Premiership to play for Sale.
One of our all-time great players who left with Manu is joining up with him.

Maybe we had the best of him and the fact he is not playing international rugby and let go by Stade probably indicates this.

He played against in the PRC the other week I think. Sadly I think he went off injured as well.Smudge wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 10:56 am I was surprised and saddened to see that our old favourite is coming back to the Premiership to play for Sale.

I think we saw the best of him, was never quite the same after injury but it would be great to see him regain that early form.

Re: Vianu returning
Was announced a couple of months back and he has played in some of their PRC games. Not a shadow of the player he was at his best and wouldn’t have him over any of the back 3 signings we have madeSmudge wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 10:56 am I was surprised and saddened to see that our old favourite is coming back to the Premiership to play for Sale.

Think his injury playing against us looked pretty severe, so doubt Sale will see him much till Christmas.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

With the depth of young talent Sale have in the back 3 he was only ever going to be back up at bestTigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 11:45 am Think his injury playing against us looked pretty severe, so doubt Sale will see him much till Christmas.

Yeh, Sanderson didn't sound hopeful on him being fit soon
Re: Veainu returning
Didn't we sign him as a WC bolter?

He was well known to Mauger though.
To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Veainu returning
Just shows that it is possible to get a bolter, but due deligence first.

Re: Veainu returning
Pez wasn't a World Cup bolter, he was recruited after careful consideration, Rotherham fans wondered what the hell we were doing as they did not rate him at all. Veainu we a good signing, exciting to watch in attack but not so good defensively and seemed to get injured a lot particularly towards the end of his time with us.
Re: Veainu returning
Veainu was a bolter, I think his first cap was just before the world cup and he had no club contract during the tournament.
Hardly unknown though, having played for 4(?) different super rugby franchises and being a former baby all black with the U20's.
