Lottie has had an injury which held up her progress, she's family on the wife's side.Darc Tiger wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:06 pm Couple of names in the squad that haven't had any form of announcement.
Linzi Taylor, a pretty experienced centre from DMP
Lottie Bozon, back three from Lichfield. She trialed for us a couple of years ago when we were setting up, and appears to now be a community coach for us.
Just two not retained from last year's squad, Molly Sanghera and Georgia Bradley. Surprised by the latter, unless she's gone back to Lightning.

Cheering on the Tigers in Detroit.
Previously a slower, shorter, less good looking version of Tom Croft.

Sagapolu and Fuery start, with Brody on the bench, for the USA's very important clash with Australia tomorrow.

Amy Cokayne unsurprisingly retains her Red Roses contract, but more interestingly Meg Jones gets one too, despite her commitment as co-captain of GB 7s running up to the Paris games.
She'll have to balance playing 7s for the next year, but its a clear statement that John Mitchell wants her to return to 15s for the World Cup.

Georgia Bradley I think is RAF too, so it could be there are other commitments that make things difficult this season.Darc Tiger wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:06 pm Just two not retained from last year's squad, Molly Sanghera and Georgia Bradley. Women's fixtures out August 9th.
We start the season with Cup games kicking off on September 23rd, and then the new Premiership season starts on November 18th.
We may try and start the season in a big way with the double header of Saints and Lightning.

IMHO Financially doesn't make sense as nice for the Women to play in a packed WR why try to sell something that already sells out?Darc Tiger wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 11:11 am

An idea I have but don't know if viable is a separated double header playing at both grounds with the away match being shown at the home ground. Taking Saints/Lightning for example, Men play at WR with the women playing at FG before or after with the Mens game shown at FG & the Womens game shown at WR . Might not be the best example as little distance to travel. Sale & Exeter might be better clubs to do it with.

Plenty won't watch both, for any number of reasons. I don't think there's much chance of cannibalisation. We're not really there yet.

Some fantastic players joining the league next season. Not least are two of my absolute favourites.
Sale pick up one of the great entertainers in Italy's Bea Rigoni, and Sarries bring back one of the best players in the world in Canada captain Sophie de Goede.
The quality of the competition is daunting, but really looking forward to seeing players like this at WR.

Re: Womens Team
Was just checking the squad page and there are four more additions that I haven't seen before.
Becca de Filipo: Wales-capped centre. Apparently played her first game for 3 years with Sarries in March.
Polly Roberts: Scrum half/wing who played a lot for Wasps last season.
Katie Thicker: Welsh wing. Spent time with Scarlets, Gloucester and Wales development, but can't find anything from the last few years.
Catha Collie: Can only assume this is supposed to be Caroline Collie. Very experienced back with an eclectic sporting résumé. Started as a goalie, playing for Arsenal, Chelsea and capped by Scotland. Pivoted to Rugby Union and got capped by Scotland in 7s and 15s. More recently she's played for Old Albanians, including against us in the playoff semifinal this year, and was top points scorer in the division. She's also juggling that with playing Rugby League for Bedford. She impressed so much last season that she become the first player to be capped by England from the Super League South competition, and could have gone to the World Cup.
There's also some names that were named in the initial squad that aren't currently on the squad page: Ella-May Fereday, Ali Gale, Holly Williams, Abi Gordon, Tami Agboola, Lottie Bozon, Bryany Chalk and Lucrezia Iavarone.
Not sure what's the situation there, but they are arguably fringe players. With them included it would take our numbers to 56, which is probably more than we need, and players will be getting gametime away from the first team.

Maybe the ones missing are likely to play more for Lichfield as our partner club

Yeah, I don't think they've been completely dropped. Fereday is only 19 and has potential, for example.Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 10:03 amAlmost all of whom have been pictured training.Darc Tiger wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 5:48 pm There's also some names that were named in the initial squad that aren't currently on the squad page: Ella-May Fereday, Ali Gale, Holly Williams, Abi Gordon, Tami Agboola, Lottie Bozon, Bryany Chalk and Lucrezia Iavarone.
Still waiting on some players to arrive in camp, I think. Could be an oversight, but as ay2oh says, it's likely they'll get games elsewhere.
