With Hinckley and Salakaia-Loto leaving and no obvious replacement announced then Pearson and Munya are pretty much straight in as their replacements.Bunchy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 9:04 amYeah - sorry was slightly tongue in cheek - as you say, clever phasing of contracts towards the back end is the way. he is a hell of a player, good buy for them.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 8:44 amWith what has happened clubs won’t be risking it with the cap. It could be they have got them cheaper for the 1st season with a promise of bigger things to come. Saints did have a fair old clear out at the end of last season and could have had some cash left, losing Biggar mid season will have helped

Iyogun will have to improve his scrummaging considerably from what I’ve seen of him. Excellent around the park but needs to nail down the nuts and bolts

L'Equipe reporting that Henry Arundell to Racing 92 is now a done deal, excellent move for him IMO
Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022
Will he get the international dispensation?

I think they will have to extend the agreement to include Irish players

Decent move for him, spent some time in France after Ulster released him as I remember

Gonzalo Quesada (38 caps for Argentina), has left his job as coach of Stade Français and will take over from Kieran Crowley as coach of Italy on January 1st 2024.

I wonder how long for though. There's an argument for it to be only a season or the length they were contracted to Irish. Otherwise I think many home based players would ask why they can't head to France to reap the Euros.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 11:22 amI think they will have to extend the agreement to include Irish players

Benhard Janse van Rensburg signs for Bristol, great signing for them and I'm sure they'll get a lot more performance for their £ out of him than they did Semi

Or France with his versatility! Bristol have picked up a good one there.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 6:57 pmWow that's a great signing for them. I was sure he'd be off to Japan on a good deal.
Hoping Tigers have some news coming, even just general squad updates would be welcome! Been too long without a Tigers fix!

Ben Loader has signed a two year deal at the Stormers, will be very interesting to see how he gets on there
Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022
Goodey was just part of a season on loan from Brive I believe. I can't think of any long term ones though off the top of my head. Charlie Ewels was with the Bulls on loan this season.
A few in NZ and Australia who played Super Rugby. Haskell, Marchant, Cipriani, Parling, Lahiff. Then more have been out in recent years. Worth and Olowofela from Tigers of course. Sam Spink and Kibirige.
One of my favourite (admittedly not relevant to this question) success stories going to the Southern Hemisphere was Murray Douglas. My first season playing for Heriots in Edinburgh Murray was tearing it up in the Scottish Premiership but couldn't get a deal at Edinburgh or Glasgow. He rolled the dice by going to Melbourne to play in the NRC and his performances have earned him pro deals since. He's played for the Rebels, Canes, Brumbies and has been in Japan for three years. A great story of a guy not giving up on the dream.
