I'm happy for the scrum half to dummy without being penalised.
Only if the act of dummying means the ball is out and the opposition can play him.

I'd be happy to see the return of a forward lamping a scrum half and getting away with it

I agree it all needs tidying/speeding up but not got rid of.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 11:03 amPrecisely and a little dangerous too. Not wanting to get off topic but there was a point in time where the hooker didn’t have to hook and the likes of the Argentinian packs would just put a nudge on over the ball even on their own put in. I’m afraid us old timers can get a little carried away with these rulings. The hooker does clearly strike for the ball these days and it’s only part of the ball that needs to go down the middle of tunnel, although the majority of feeds are squint. The issue is too much time is taken up by the scrum and hopefully the 30 second law will speed things up. I also agree with Healey that for a free kick another scrum shouldn’t be an optionGB72 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 10:53 amBeen many years since I have seen a hooker swing across the gap and take a ball out of the opposition second row.Nofrontteeth wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 10:43 am
Fully in line with my aged thinking and experience. Today the Hooker is only there to stop their props from boring into each other and to score more tries than the backs
It's a key element of the game and especially to the Tigers modus operandi as our match captain proves
I could live with both the stopwatch control and cut out repeated retakes other than a genuine drop because of pitch conditions.

watched the replay back yesterday, one thing I couldn't work out is when Steward came on did he play on the wing or in the centres?
Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Saturday 25th March 2023 - KO 12:30pm
Wing. Potter moved to centre
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Steward went on the wing and Bristol ran straight past him and scored!

a podcast I listened too said that they think Steward could be a solution to England's issues at 12 due to his abilities allowing for someone with more pace in the back 3 comparing it to the move Jordy Barrett did for the All Blacks, they also then said the issue with that is 2 of England's other potential solutions at 12 are also at Tigers, where as in Ireland someone would call up the region and ask him to play there

Two on one where 99% of the time he gets done no matter whatRugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 7:05 pmIf you mean the Randall try he was left high and dry in open field and was beaten by a decent step.

The TMO must have been asleep at that point too. Or if he did spot it and advise Carley then Carley must have decided to ignore it.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

Radrada also leads with his elbows into contact on almost every contact

I saw that at the time. Pollard just bounces back up on his feet again. If he stayed down to milk it (like many seem to these days unfortunately) the Ref might gave had a look as the camera may have re-run the action.

I hope refs start carding people that "milk." This has to be stamped out quickly otherwise rugby will become like wendyball.
Hats off to Pollard!
