I’ve filled in at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, (12 and 13 at the same time, we were short on players!), 14, and 15. Very much happy to be on the pitch, even if I got absolutely munched by the opposition prop!westwinds31 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 7:03 amYou must be one of these hybrid players though !? Cheering on the Tigers in Detroit.
Previously a slower, shorter, less good looking version of Tom Croft.

This has inspired me to make myself available for selection next week as well. Fly half/Full back, safe pair of hands, plenty of gas, educated right foot (full disclosure: defence a bit suspect) but I'll give it my best shot although ... thinking about I might have lost a yard or two of pace (being in my mid 70s)

I'll happily go with your experience over the extra pace me in my 30's might bringJacko27 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 12:02 pm This has inspired me to make myself available for selection next week as well. Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

I might be able to amble around for a couple of minutes at 8 or 13. Just need easy access to the medical team and a decent ale on draught.
I'm not cynical just experienced

I train regularly with some gentle weightlifting using both hands , so I consider myself to be match fit - more or less!

I'd be tempted with nobody released to have this backline vs Sarries
15 Brown
14 Ashton
13 Scott
12 Pollard
11 Potter
10 Atkinson

Sorry, should have been more explicit. I suspect he'll be in and around the 23, not just the wider squad.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 9:30 amHim staying in the squad is quite different to being released to play a game during a bye week.Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:32 amTigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 7:33 pm If Porter isn't released, then I probably would go Pollard at 12, Atkinson 10 with Ashton 15 and Potter & Simmons on the wings
I have a sneaky feeling that now Porter's back in he'll stay in. I think he was only not initially selected due to injury. I wonder if another of the wing/centres will drop out later on.
Heyes last year often got released to play but stayed in the squad.
No other player, apart from maybe Lawrence (who wasn't initially picked, and was subsequently picked before Porter returned from injury) offers his versatility, particularly those times you might want a 23 with a 6:2 bench.

Realistically in the circumstances we just need Brown to be good under the high ball, strong positionally and kick well. If he's in good shape as reported there's no reason he shouldn't be able to do that. He didn't impress in his time at Falcons but I thought Ashton was fairly dire at Worcester. I'd put him straight in at 15.
With it in a bye week we'll have Reffell back, most likely Heyes and I'd be hopeful on Porter.
1.Whitcombe
2.Montoya
3.Heyes
4.Martin
5.Green
6.Hanro (c)
7.Reffell
8.Wiese
9.Edwards
10.Pollard
11.Simmons
12.Porter
13.Scott
14.Pottter
15.Brown
16.Clare
17.West
18.Hurd
19.Wells
20.Cracknell
21.Whiteley
22.Gopperth
23.Atkinson
Given the circumstances I wouldn't be unhappy with that at all to be fair.
It would be really helpful if Saumaki or Kini could return to offer some more power on one wing. If Porter doesn't return it'd be good to see Cokanasiga too of course.
