Nice seeing Owen Williams guiding Ospreys to a win away in Montpellier!

Re: Formerly of this parish
I see Olly Robinson has left Cardiff by mutual consent and with immediate effect. Does anyone here know what’s going on. Fans on Twitter seem very positive about his efforts for the club which fits with my view of his short loan period with us.
Re: Formerly of this parish
I would have him back!

Re: Formerly of this parish
Yes and no...
Was a solid player for us so if he fits in yes, but where does he fit atm?
We essentially replaced Robinson with Cracknell...
Cracknell is a step up IMO from Robinson, so what about behind that, well we have the likes of Jansen & Ilione both young developing back row players who may find opportunities more limited were he to return.
So not sure where he'd fit in our current setup, so then it's where our contracts situation leaves our back row for next season.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.
Re: Formerly of this parish
I think blocking game time for Ilione would be an issue. He is a young and well thought of player who needs to get first team experience or move to somewhere he will. Jansen seems to get the bench back room slot currently but down not provide Academy credits so we need to take a long view of player development and salary cap. All are good players though. If we look sparse come 6N then we can look at him or the academy for options.

We have no jackal in the squad other than Reffell. Ilione & Cracknell are more pacey 8s who can play well in the open field but aren't stocky turnover specialists. With Reffell almost certainly going to the 6N I think an extra jackaler could be a real need for us.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:13 amYes and no...

That's my thinking,Robinson would be ideal on a short term contractsk 88 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 11:56 amWe have no jackal in the squad other than Reffell. Or we could actually give Illione a game.
To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Formerly of this parish
It really does seem odd he hasn't been given much of a chance yet.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:20 pm Or we could actually give Illione a game.

Could be his university studies getting in the way - given his age he may be in his latter years? Not sure how the balance between training and medicine studies is but it cannot be easy by any means!wigworth wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:27 pmI really does seem odd he hasn't been given much of a chance yet.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:20 pm Or we could actually give Illione a game.
Re: Formerly of this parish
Coaches aren't shy of giving youngsters a game. If they don't fancy him, which clearly so far they haven't I'm guessing there is a reason to be honest.

its not like we've been short of backrow options so I wouldn't read too much into it

I think this is the likely answer. Modern day players are encouraged to have another career in case of serious injuryRunTigerRun wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:29 pmCould be his university studies getting in the way - given his age he may be in his latter years?
