Its the elephant in the room and the sooner its sorted the quicker Tigers can move on. Not content to take just our players England now want to take away our head coach.

And if he does take it Id rather him go immediately. Just have a caretaker coach then until the end of the season

We’ve been the same since game 1

If Atkinson is a bit flacky kicking should we use Steward or another to do the conversion a la Stimpson and Hare?

Yes,that’s a good point. We are certainly levels off everywhere in our game. We can’t keep using the players away with England, new combinations excuses anymore either!

For me our attack is still a work in progress. That said the return of Kelly has helped immensely but its still way off being able to interchange our backs seemlessly like some of our competition.

Not really mentioning that Bristol was down to 14 men in that period are you though.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 10:03 pmBurns made to many sloppy errors and we scored two of the three tries whilst he was off the field. The only one we did score whilst he was on was from the rolling maul.
That being said those two missed conversions did cost us the win.

I think it’s important to remember that Freddie Burns is, as he always has been, our second choice 10. Even if Fordy was still here we’d still be in the same position having to play Freddie as our starting 10. As second choice flyhalfs go Freddie still fits the bill. I am hoping Pollard isn’t far off now though.

But new combinations were there again tonight with Kelly coming back.........
The other change that took away from the performance tonight was the withdrawal of Reffell.

Silly mistakes cost us but in general play we did okay, Kelly was superb and made a real difference.
It was the little details that lost us the win, some poor kicks first half (of all types) and then just letting Bristol get territory Time and time again in the 2nd half when we should have put it to bed.
Another game we’d have squeaked a win last season but just being a few percent off means we aren’t getting the 4/5pters this time around.
First time we’ve have most of our back line together though so I’m still hopeful!

Perhaps we'll see Atkinson given a run in Europe to make more of a case. Burns has been below par recently and we did use the away games in Europe last season to experiment.

Agreed, our attack hasn’t moved forward like we’d hoped. We’re still a bit one dimensional and other sides have worked us out, or should I say, worked out how to limit us. The opposition aren’t always going to stop Wiese, Montoya etc but Bristol threw everything at slowing our ball down, which worked some of the time. Youngs is very jittery at the base with slow ball…charged down, knock ons, passes not going where they should, kicks directly into touch. Watson must be pulling his hair out waiting for the ball to come his way. We’ve got one of the quickest feet in the business out wide and can’t get him the ball, we’re too busy trying to bash teams into submission. Maybe Pollard coming back will help.
If we had Saints attack with our forwards, we’d be cruising this league.

I'd disagree about our attack. Its been clear to be me that we've been working on changing our attack over the Autumn. As soon as the gap in the fixtures emerged, we've shifted, and it was very apparent we were doing things differently during the Italy game.
Obviously, its a work in progress, but its a noticeable change-up from the beginning of the season. Much more shape and width, compared to our usual structure. With Nemz going, and no obvious replacement, we had to do things differently.

That was disappointing! A match that could and should have been won. A daft red card, charged-down kicks, missed kicks at goal, and finally, the restart not going 10 yards - kick high and long with several chasers and keep the oppo in their half! There were, however, plusses. Good news to have Kelly back and firing and big Dan getting the better of Genge in the set scrum. Also disappointed we didn’t see more of Atkinson but hopefully he’ll start against Ospreys. Finally, the more I watch Tigers, the more evident it is that they’re missing George Ford!

The officials applied the current interpretation of the rules correctly for the Semi/van Wyk decisions. My criticism isn't of them. It's of the law makers.
From a player welfare perspective, it's unfathomable that we deem Burns nearly having his head taken off from an out of control, high speed forearm as a yellow card. Yes, he had a lower body height, but we simply cannot 'mitigate' when someone is tackling so recklessly. Semi's tackle was considerably more likely to cause a brain injury than van Wyk's.
