Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
Slow of mind, only one plan, repeat offenders giving away penalties.
You need players who are playing regularly at the top level who will think sharply and adapt to the situation. (Like a dodgy ref) The Sarries contingent should have been given a breather and the net cast wider to start building the next WC team.
Players on form in the premiership should have been given a crack.... IMHO
Better to lose giving potential talent the opportunity rather than providing another payday for has beens.
The fact that I don't think a salary cap cheat captaining my country has NOTHING to do with these comments. Honest. Really.

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
The Championship is gone for England now, so lets use the remainder of the tournament to build for the future. (So long as you're not just trying not to get fired)
Bring in Simmonds for Lawes into the squad, then I'd select this team:
15 Malins
14 Watson
13 Odogwu
12 Lawrence
11 May
10 Ford
9 Youngs
1 Genge
2 Cowan-Dickie
3 Sinkler
4 Itoje
5 Ewels
6 Curry
7 Earl
8 Vunipola
16 George
17 Vunipola
18 Stuart
19 Martin
20 Simmonds
21 Robson
22 Farrell
23 Slade

Love that team to be fair. Personally I’d swap Billy for Dombrandt, and Farrell for M. Smith but can’t see Eddie doing that...TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 8:02 pm The Championship is gone for England now, so lets use the remainder of the tournament to build for the future. Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
First try was England's fault plain and simple.
The ref wasn't going to wait around for 2 minutes for Farrell to finish speaking. He was always going to put time back on. How many times has everyone seen the ref tell the captain to tell the rest of the players something. Either the captain goes back to his players and doesn't get them in a huddle, or specifically asks the ref for time to do it. Farrell is a just a poor captain, end of story. The later try showed how little focus the players have, a quick tap that far out shouldn't have a straight run to the line.
The knock on try was probably the strangest decision I've seen for a long time. But England lost this game themselves, not because of the ref.

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
England lost to a poor Wales. England lost to a woeful Scotland.
Results don’t lie so that indicates England’s level.
Yes the referee was woeful but England under Jones and Farrell are going nowhere as they cannot adapt to the needs of the game. Demonstrated by the losses to South Africa, Scotland and now Wales. Jones for not taking selectorial decisions and Farrell who is only capable of ranting at refs and not getting his players to accept they need to adjust to the ref.

Not arguing that at all, just trying to say better now than never, I too would bring in Smith and Dombrandt, but I was working on the basis that only one change can be made to the squad.Big Dai wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 8:09 pmGents.... Not arguing with you either Steve.... Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
I was surprised to learn after the match that Eddie had reported the referee before.
Human nature being what it is. it's no surprise he was so anti England. Revenge being a meal best eaten cold.
On the odd occasion he was not whistle happy we had a decent game.
Irrespective of the result, the whole thing was spoilt as an occasion by this idiot.
I can't believe that the English officials will not be complaining or that he will not get a panning by all the other officials.
I was pleased with the way our two backs played .
The Taffs won't believe their luck today but what comes round goes round.

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
Lack of discipline and focus cost England the game not the ref.
The Sarries players and quite a few others have played so little rugby this season it’s no surprise the performances are poor.
Itoje, great player but how many penalties did he give away? Farrell isn’t a captain as he gets so riled by decisions that don’t go England’s way.
Ford still has the shackles on him so kicks the ball away at times when in the past he would make a dart, a shimmy or dummy pass to get over the gain line.
Young’s, however, had one of his better performances.
Steward is already a better player than Daly.
Without Lawes and Lauchberry the forwards lack grunt and nouse.
Genge needs game time as he hasn’t played enough this year to get into gear.
Mind you, I’ve never been a fan of Eddie Jones. He seems to have his favourites who he won’t drop despite their poor form.

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
Think the result was right, not necessarily how it was got too.
Daly was again clueless...no interest in tackling, reverse the charge down in the first half..try Wales.

To win is not as important as playing with style!

This is what I can’t stand about Eddie Jones.

What benefits him & England in the long term, time training with England or playing 80mins for Tigers today?JP14 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 10:06 pm+1Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 6:48 pm Why have George Martin on the bench if you’re not going to use him?

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021
I actually thought Billy Vunipola had a good game putting England on the front foot, one of the few positives.

That woman has a name, Sonja, and was doing her job, what was she supposed to ask Farrell? What are you having for tea?
