Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19
Matt O' Connor could not see it. To be fair to him Harry had a minor injury, Tom Youngs availability was uncertain, two other hookers were injured and Kerr was untried, MOC signed experience in Polotau Nau pushing Harry further down the pecking order. When Harry asked about his future he was told he was considered too small to be a hooker, there was a heated debate between them and Harry realised he had no future at Tigers under MOC, our loss but Bristol's gain. All coaches have an idea of the qualities they want in each position and can sometimes get blinded to alternative qualities in players that do not fit the image, remember Neil Back being too small, now if someone is not a similar body shape to Backy we say they are not proper sevens.

I still think we missed a trick. We could have had Harry at 7 and let him loose around the park but throwing in at the lineout and then had either TPN or moved Bateman back to hooker. Bateman's weakness as a hooker was his lineout work and TPN has similar issues but it would have left us with a very powerful front row and three lifters/maul drivers at the lineout. At the time Thacker's throwing in was the best at the club. Probably too out of the box thinking for MOC.johnthegriff wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 10:34 am Matt O' Connor could not see it. Think it’s time we move on, the person responsible for Thacker’s exit is no longer at the club, therefore moaning about it won’t achieve much. There’s not a day go by that I bemoan Peter Betham’s exit, but I don’t rant about it all the time.

Unfortunately Harry like Goneva and Slater will always be one of those why did we not keep him, every club has those.
IMO he’s a bit like Twelvetrees just how many match winning performances did he actually put in

Doesn't Twelvetrees still hold our record for most points scored in a game by an individual player? Think he was playing 13 at the time and Vs Gloucester?Mark62 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 1:52 pmBut he wants to play hooker.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 11:41 amI still think we missed a trick. After the way Steve :censored: us about last time, they can have him.

Yep and he nearly beat Ospreys near singkehanded after us being a sack of points behind at halftime. IMO could've kicked on to become a legend BUT for the Head coach at the time...........sam16111986 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 4:37 pmDoesn't Twelvetrees still hold our record for most points scored in a game by an individual player? Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19
We did have a set of pretty good centre options at the time in Vesty, Smith, Manu, Allen and Mauger. At the end of his time with us he was third choice behind the Allen/Manu combo though I feel we could have rotated him in more as he did have some explosive performances.jgriffin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 5:15 pmYep and he nearly beat Ospreys near singkehanded after us being a sack of points behind at halftime. Scott Hansen joins Crusaders as an assistant coach.
Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19
And some blamed him for our slump!!! You wouldn't be getting a gig anywhere near the Crusaders if you didn't have the minerals
