True! And I can't remember the last time I saw a team marched back 10 metres for having commented on the ref's decision. It should happen more regularly.

** Putting in to second row
** Offside pass lottery
** Penalising the second player jumping for a high ball
** Lottery over the so called high tackle-when a player ducks into it on purpose

The time it takes for the scrum half to arrange everything for a box kick from a ruck. The trailer gets longer, and was outlawed several years ago in preference for a 5 second time limit. 5 seconds my foot!! 'Use it' is the most often phrase used by a referee.
Give blood, play rugby!!

The number of times I've found myself thinking come on ref penalise him when the scrum half just blithely ignores the use it call . If they really want to speed the game up this an area where a few judicious penalties for taking too long would have an immediate and non-detrimental effect.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!
Re: What gets your goat in the rugby of today?
Crouch, bind, set.....and collapse.
Offside not policed.
Squint put ins / throws at scrum and line out.
Hooker's feet on the pitch at line out.
The dithering TMO who still can't get right.
Laws "let go" to keep the game flowing.
Eddy Butler and Jonathan Davies
Monye, Healey and Florence.
Harrumph!

Butlers pronunciation was almost identical to the stadium announcers, and also to the supporters of ASM who shout it out at every home game.

1. Overuse of cards. People want to see and play in a 15 man game.
2. The law applied to "deliberate knock-on" (also see 1.)
3. The new high tackle laws. I know it is to "protect the players", but I am so glad I played under the less pansy laws. Soon, punching to the face will be banned in boxing. You never know, somebody might get hurt. If you don't like the risk, don't play. Your choice.
4. I wish the "10 metres" forward rule were applied more for disrespecting Sir.
5. Plastic pitches. Rugby is a game played on grass / mud / ice / snow.
6. The application of the laws around the breakdown, lying on the ball etc etc
Some of these have all but ruined the game I have followed for nearly 40 years. I will always follow the Tigers, but I am done with everything else.

1. I want to see a fair game. If that means a few yellow cards in a game then so be it. If players can't abide to the laws, then that's their problem.Pellsey wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 6:00 am 1. Overuse of cards. People want to see and play in a 15 man game.

2. Agree 100%. If the opposition pass it close enough that a player can get close enough to it to be able to catch it but drops it, then it's a normal knock on. If they just try and slap the ball away then that's a deliberate knock on. It really is that simple.
3. Agree.
4. Agree.
5. Agree. Get rid of plastic pitches immediately!!
6. Agree.

Re: What gets your goat in the rugby of today?
Player with the ball, half tackled, usually not held, allowed to crawl forward while clearly off feet. Defence unable to do anything to get to the ball.
Re: What gets your goat in the rugby of today?
Forward passes that aren't given as forward passes just because it means the game doesn't have to be stopped for a scrum so that it's "more entertaining" to watch.
Re: What gets your goat in the rugby of today?
After the awarding of a try, the referee stopping the kicker taking the conversion to check the try after watching the replay on the big screen.
You've made your decision, it's too late to change it now. As soon as the referee puts his arm up to say a try has been scored, he shouldn't be able to change the decision (unless the TMO tells him foul play has occurred).
If he wants to check if the try has been scored, he should signal that he's checking with the TMO and not put his arm up to award a try.

More than one Saturday 3pm kick off in a month as it means I can't go to them all.
