Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 4
I don't see how we can have "the best front row in Europe" when neither of our first choice hookers can throw straight!!
The front row is made up of three players not two. Kerr is a great prospect however, just needs experience.
Is TPN staying on next year? Our lineout is a shadow of what it needs to be, so a combination of good locks and a hooker that can throw would be useful.
I hope OTYs comes back rejuvenated and starts to throw and play how he did in his England/Lions days, we sure need that.
Definitely need a 10 to replace JF, people are decrying Priestland, but IMO he would be a very good back up to Ford.

Why would priestland, an international fly half, join us to sit on the bench when George ford is here ?

Most top teams have two top players for each position. One problem there, we are no longer a top team, but we still have the potential!!

Whether he would sign or not,I wouldn't like him here. I personally don't rate him,and he would be expensive!

He said he learned an awful lot from Ford, particularly about pre game preparation. Earned plenty of cash but it didn't help his international career much. It'd be a mistake by us and him to sign here.RagingBull wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 5:43 pmWas it that much of a mistake for him the first time?

Priestland has little or no chance of retaining his Welsh place, and will no doubt end up with Lyon or Grenoble or similar...

Biggar is the favourite but neither Anscombe nor the lad at the Scarlets have really ripped it up. Priestland could still grab a couple more caps if he moved back to Wales. The money move would be France.
Few teams have two quality international 10s. Sarries do but Lozowski wasn't an international when the acquired him. Exeter have two 10s with no caps. Wasps have spent a fortune on one that is struggling for form. Glaws have two but only because they couldn't offload Williams massive salary last summer.Soggypitch wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 5:22 pmMost top teams have two top players for each position. Really? Anscombe has been fantastic for Wales sinces he's been their 10 and is first choice for me at present

It's starting to really worry me that we've known Toomua is leaving for ages yet don't have a replacement to handily announce.

Be nice if TPN comes back after the World Cup but I really think Kerr is rapidly developing into the starting hooker. Only worry would be if he needs to go back to Scotland to further his international aspirationsSoggypitch wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 4:51 pm I don't see how we can have "the best front row in Europe" when neither of our first choice hookers can throw straight!!

Given the limitations of the salary cap, surely them two players battling it out for the 12 shirt is enough. Reinvest that marquee salary on a forward.Mark62 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 7:27 pmJaco Taute And Eastmond already hereCitizenSmiff wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 7:10 pm It's starting to really worry me that we've known Toomua is leaving for ages yet don't have a replacement to handily announce.
