Tom Heathcote has been mentioned. As far as I'm aware, he currently isn't contracted to a club.voice of the crumbie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 12:18 pm Sappoanga will need rest periods. No matter how talented or fit it would be pushing it to expect him to play every game. So with Gopperth out they are going to be a bit exposed at fly half. Injury dispensation signing? Perhaps we could send them Joe Ford on loan.

With Heathcote's history of head injuries, I'm not convinced his well-being would be best served by more battering in the PL.ellis9 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 1:21 pmTom Heathcote has been mentioned. They have Billy Searle and Jacob Umaga on the books as well. Searle has prem experience with Bristol, hadn't realised he'd signed this summer. Rob Miller could also cover at 10.

This is true but I would venture to suggest that all 3 are a big step down from Gopperth.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 2:56 pm They have Billy Searle and Jacob Umaga on the books as well. Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

True but if they can't play when you've got an injury crisis then when will they play?!voice of the crumbie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 3:00 pmThis is true but I would venture to suggest that all 3 are a big step down from Gopperth.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 2:56 pm They have Billy Searle and Jacob Umaga on the books as well. Not saying they can't play. Just saying they're a step down from Gopperth. As we play them early season I hope they do play someone like Umaga. I think that would favour us.ellis9 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 4:24 pmTrue but if they can't play when you've got an injury crisis then when will they play?!voice of the crumbie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 3:00 pmThis is true but I would venture to suggest that all 3 are a big step down from Gopperth.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 2:56 pm They have Billy Searle and Jacob Umaga on the books as well. Rob Miller is a rock steady player. They might well go with him knowing he's unlikely to make an error and there's plenty of flair still in their backline. Searle is more attack minded so possible impact sub.voice of the crumbie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 9:42 pmNot saying they can't play. Just saying they're a step down from Gopperth. What a terrible shame.........Rugbyflanker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 5:15 pm Delon Armitage out for the season after only 64 seconds!
To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19
Semi Kunatani is an excellent signing by Quins but is he a full-term signing or will he still play for the Fiji 7s like he did whilst at Toulouse?

It's news to me but maybe not for some of you, but former Tigers winger, Tom Varndell has signed a two-year contract with Soyaux-Angoulême in the French ProD2.
One former Angoulême player of note was the late Lions and England 2nd row forward Maurice Colclough.

Hope he does really well but I worry for the Coach. At Bristol and Wasps, the guys who signed him (Robinson and McGeechan) departed swiftly thereafter!Robespierre wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 12:59 pm It's news to me but maybe not for some of you, but former Tigers winger, Tom Varndell has signed a two-year contract with Soyaux-Angoulême in the French ProD2.

He didn't enjoy Championship rugby and nor did he much like Coventry so hopefully South West France will be a step up!

John Mitchell's appointment as England's new defence coach is moving closer but remains subject to a compensation agreement.
Reports in South Africa claim the Rugby Football Union and Mitchell's club, Blue Bulls, have agreed a release fee of £218,000 but Sky Sports News understands that no agreement has yet been reached.
Eddie Jones wants Mitchell to replace Paul Gustard, who has taken over as Director of Rugby at Harlequins.

Harry Thacker and Jordan Crane are both in the starting XV for Bristol against Bath in this season's first match.
It's a shame Tigers let Crane go. Dependable and always gives 100%. (although one or two others in the minority on this board may think otherwise)
