And for those of you (which included me a few moments ago) who are wondering where this information came from, it's in the Merc.
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.
Re: Captain Floody
As expected - best man for the job & proved that last season.
And if he gets called up by England then Deacs is a good backup.

Re: Captain Floody
Excellent appointments.
Flood a great choice and I think the captaincy will help his game. He is always better when stretched and this will keep him focused at all times.
Really pleased with vice captain appointments as well...Deacon is a man mountain and leads by example as does AA who has proved his value and sets a great example for everyone. On a purely selfish note this added responsibility for AA might help persuade him to sign a new contract..who knows
Well done to them all.

Re: Captain Floody
Whilst I both understand and support the decision, I am surprised as I thought Salvi or Parling would have been better options, but then I prefer a forward as skipper.
"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.
Re: Captain Floody
I think Salvi needs to concentrate on his game and Paring will be away a lot with England, whereas I suspect Flood may not..

Re: Captain Floody
What a great choice well done Floody and very good news for Deacs and AA all are well respected and good leaders and with our new exiting young players coming through this has got to be good.
God I am looking forward to the new season! Bring it on.
Followed by rythmic clapping and a quick TIGERS.

Do you think this is a way of Cockers concentrating AA's mind on Tigers?Soggypitch wrote:Absolutely the right decision.

A riposte if you will to the Rugby Paper rumour.

Also agree that Floody is the right man for the job.
Re: Captain Floody
Will Flood stay a Tiger if his international future is at an end?
See this http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Toby- ... story.html
Will Toulon be looking to replace Wilkinson?

Re: Captain Floody
I hope he has a fantastic start to the season and nails that No.10 shirt for the Autumn internationals!!
He is a better player currently than Farrell and Burns.

Re: Captain Floody
Interesting one this and I personally agree with those who would have opted for a forward rather than TF.
TF's comments about "I will just take it month by month this season, I have loved my time here" don't exactly inspire confidence that he will be at WR this time next year.
You can predict TF will be behind Farrell and Burns in the England pecking order this season and if an offer comes in early nest year from a French-club (with Toulon clearly the most likely) then who would begrudge him a big money move to France as he approaches his thirties... If it is Toulon then you can see JW whispering into his ear 'better weather, nicer food, bigger pay packet, great chance of winning the HC'...
Hope I'm wrong and he stays as he has been a great player and very committed to Tigers. He seemed to personally take on the role of captain towards the end of last season IMHO. But back to the original topic - perhaps others in line to become captain with less immediate speculation about their future at the club would have been more logical candidate for this year.

I prefer to see it as the logical choice (because he's the best man for the job) and an inspired effort by Cockers to try and persuade him to stay beyond the end of this season...MrPartridge wrote:perhaps others in line to become captain with less immediate speculation about their future at the club would have been the more logical candidate for this year.
