Re: Team v Northampton
Should be a good game and i think we just have the edge with the bench players but they have the home turf.
Have to say Tigerbeat you have me confused with you full squads line?
i guessed as a "Mod" you knew about the club but i recall we are missing 3 second rows, Tom Croft and our best player from last season in Crane??

Re: Team v Northampton
I think he means, neither side are hamstrung by Autumn Internationals or 6 Nations, like the previous couple of season.
Oh, When The Saints Go Marching In!
Re: Team v Northampton
That is exactly what I meant...........last seasons games were all played with International players unavailable.tommo wrote:I think he means, neither side are hamstrung by Autumn Internationals or 6 Nations, like the previous couple of season.

The Winking Smiley ( ) was put at the end to show it as a little leg pulling not a dig.

Re: Team v Northampton
Well happy to have that side out there. Strongest available at this moment. Interesting that he went for Slater and Pienaar instead of having Croft on the bench. Also interesting to see Manu chosen on the bench. Though I suppose it makes sense as he could have some serious impact against a tiring defence.
Also, Duffey on the bench after not playing any part in preseason! Hawkins is knackered again... Eye socket according to the unoffy!

Re: Team v Northampton
Interesting that Saints have no cover at lock. 3 front rowers, 2 back rowers and 3 backs and it doesn't look as if any of their replacement backrow have played at 4 or 5

Re: Team v Northampton
That is a cracking lineup for Leicester and it should be a cracker at the Gardens. Leicester to get the win by a narrow margin.

Re: Team v Northampton
Whilst I would love to see Tigers hammer them 45 - 0 or more I think you are right Tigermad. It will be close. Tigers to win 21 - 20.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!
Re: Team v Northampton
If smurf plays like he has in preseason and we lose because of it big questions will have to be asked.
A bit worrying that Tom is absent as well, although Ed Slater has looked OK from what I have seen.

Re: Team v Northampton
Have no worries about smurf.
Geordan would have taken the pre season games lightly for the following reasons:
- He is not trying to battle harden himself up like a forward would want.
- He is north of 30 and probably just wants to ease into game time without taking any silly risks.
- He was injured for much of last season and so is probably being doubly cautious about not picking up a silly injury in a friendly.
- He has (or shouldn't have) anything to prove. Players like Smith, Manu etc are all playing hard in these games to win places in the starting line up. Geordan knows his place is safe.
Ultimately he will pick up where he always does in producing the quality when needed but you can't blame the bloke for not investing himself too heavily in the pre season games.

Re: Team v Northampton
a solid team with no real surprises sprung. an injury hit second row as we already knew about
i like the idea of m tuilagi coming off the bench, but no 12t at all
good to see flood has shaken off his ankle injury from last week, glad it hasn't turned out to be serious

Re: Team v Northampton
I really hope this is not his attitude as frankly that would stink. Will S wrote:- He has (or shouldn't have) anything to prove. Players like Smith, Manu etc are all playing hard in these games to win places in the starting line up. Geordan knows his place is safe.
If he wasn't committing to tackles and running into contact then that would be one thing, but his passing and kicking have both been poor, no excuse for that.
Re: Team v Northampton
I thought the same captain, it seems likely to be destined that he just doesn't fit at Leicester for whatever reason and we are not behind the scenes so we do not know said reason. If I recall correctly he wasn't even at Twickenham with the rest of the squad for the final.captain_insaino wrote:.... but no 12t at all...
I still remember that MOTM performance against Ospreys
But I, for one, would prefer he played somewhere else, than not play for us. I am sure Newcastle, Gloucester, Sale or Quins would snap him up.
The prospect (as he must already be seeing it) of another season on loan to Nottingham or scraping some 'A' team action must be dispiriting for anyone.
Always a Tiger
