Re: England v Ireland - OTY on the bench
I think that the possible effect of Cole's absence is being overstated. Cian Healy has been having problems with his ankles of late, both having been strapped in his first two 6N games. His sub, Jack McGrath, is a good young player but he has a long way to go before he's the finished article. I thin...

Re: Heineken Cup no nearer a resolution
Hi Cider, maybe you misread my post, but yes I know that. Here is my point. The last English team to reach the HC final was Northampton. Vs. Leinster in Cardiff. Northampton walked all over Leinster in the first half, before physically collapsing at half time as a result of playing an AP semi at Ti...

Re: Lions - it depends on your spectacles.
I enjoyed Johnny Sexton's post match comment that he was delighted to have won his first Welsh cap! On a more serious note the difference in interpretation between Pollock, Joubert and Poite on the scrum and the breakdown areas means that Refs and their interpretations of the Laws of the game are be...

Re: BO'D ain't going yet
Great news for us Leinster supporters. However, he hasn't recovered from the back spasm sustained against Glasgow last week and is unavailable for the ACC Final. If it transpires that he also misses next week's Pro 12 League Final then his participation in the Lions Tour will be in question.

Re: BT VISION to have exclusive Rugby Union broadcast rights
Article in today's Irish Times: Anglo-French demands grossly inequitable ON RUGBY: The Anglo-French axis wants to weaken the Irish hand, so as to make it more difficult for them to retain their best players and win Heineken Cups, writes GERRY THORNLEY TOMORROW THE various stakeholders of the ERC – n...

Re: English and French teams backing up their Heineken arguments
There are only 3 Rabo 'teams' who I am sure will be in the QFs - Ulster, Munster & Leinster. The others suffer for playing in an underpowered league too much and equally from not having the purchasing power of the Irish top 3. This is a complaint often heard in Wales when I go there. Many of th...

The Irish Times - Tuesday, October 2, 2012 New Accord needs compromise from all sides ON RUGBY: There will have to be give-and-take over a new agreement, but keeping 24 teams allows more elbow room than reducing it to 20 teams, writes GERRY THORNLEY PRIOR TO next Monday’s meeting in Rome of all the ...

Re: Europe and ERC - excellent article by Brian Moore
Brian Moore is being economical with the verite in stating that Ireland has 4 automatic places in the HEC. Connacht is only in this season and was only in last season because Leinster won the HEC.
