Premiership Semi finals 2024
I know some feel they shouldn’t take place and Saints should be champions etc etc etc.
However they are:
Friday brings us Northampton v Saracens
Saturday Bath v Sale
Who do posters think will win. Personally I would like to see Saints win after some of the rugby they have played and Sale after timing their late run so well. Wouldn’t surprise me to see both games go the other way though

I think that 99.9% of neutral supporters will be gunning for a Northampton win - including me!!Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 1:13 pm I know some feel they shouldn’t take place and Saints should be champions etc etc etc.

As for the other game, I'd like to see Sale get to Twickers again.

Re: Premiership Semi finals
Best final for me would be Saints v Bath. Trouble is I wouldn’t want either of them to win.
A2O
Re: Premiership Semi finals
Should be two interesting semis and, whoever goes through, an intriguing final.
Two teams who prioritise forward power and pragmatism, but can still play good rugby in the backs when opportunity arises, versus two teams that love to play fancy backs stuff, but have toughened up their packs and set pieces this year.

Anyone if anyone but Saints, Bath, Sale and Sarries win I will be happy
Re: Premiership Semi finals 2024
I suspect our dislike of the league play offs deciding the champions probably dates back to the season that they brought in the play offs. After Tigers had run away with the league, they announced the play offs mid season.
At least we now the league is just a qualifying competition these days.

I’d like Sale to win it as George Ford is a player I’ve always admired and even though we lost at The AJ Bell two weeks ago I enjoyed once again watching from close to the pitch Fordy pulling the strings. Though Manu left us in a way I wasn’t impressed with I still enjoy the way he plays with a huge smile on his face: but will he be fit!
Realistically though I’m expecting a Saints v Bath final which if it is I will be wanting a Saints’ win!

Re: Premiership Semi finals 2024
Saracens are literally the last team I would support, and as much as they are our rivals, Saints are a proper rugby club IMHO.
Sale for me over Barf.
In terms of who I would like to win the League, the team which came top, as long as that is not Saracens! As wrong as it may be, I will be supporting Saints.

Re: Premiership Semi finals 2024
They've all got major issues for me.
Northampton - Well, its Saints innit.
Bath - Its Bath innit.
Saracens - Don't want others getting closer to our record no of wins...
Sale - I don't like Sanderson (but theres no doubting he's doing a good job).
As Sale and Northampton have only won it once each I'd like to see that as the final*. Winner meh...
*I actually think it'll be Sarreis and Bath in the final though....

Can't bring myself to "want" any of the Top 4 to win the whole thing. I'd rather Bristol or Quins given they've played some amazing rugby this season, but it's not to be. The thought of Saints or Bath winning it.....urgh !

By no means a criticism but a lot of people seem to not like Sanderson, possibly his directness I’m unsure.ads wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:52 am They've all got major issues for me.

I’d have been delighted for him to come to Tigers pre the Borthwick era
Re: Premiership Semi finals 2024
I used to dislike Sanderson when he was at Saracens, however I think they used to wheel him out to carry the corporate message. Since he's been at Sale he's become more measured. He is, I think, a very good 'man manager', able to get the best out of players.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 9:13 amBy no means a criticism but a lot of people seem to not like Sanderson, possibly his directness I’m unsure.ads wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:52 am They've all got major issues for me.

Nail on the head there Fentiger. Story about him turning up at Manu front door announced to say how disappointed he was that he was leaving but they couldn’t have offered him anymore to keep him, and thanking him and his wife for all they’d donefentiger wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 9:37 amI used to dislike Sanderson when he was at Saracens, however I think they used to wheel him out to carry the corporate message. Interesting to see that Saracens have returned 500 tickets from their allocation.
