Champions' Cup Final

Post by Robespierre »

Toulouse v Leinster 25th May 16h45.

Here are the teams:

Toulouse : 15. Kinghorn ; 14. Mallia, 13. Costes, 12. Ahki, 11. Lebel ; 10. Ntamack, 9. Dupont (cap.) ; 7. Willis, 8. Roumat, 6. Cros ; 5. Meafou, 4. Flament ; 3. Aldegheri, 2. Mauvaka, 1. Baille.
Replacements : 16. Marchand, 17. Neti, 18. Merkler, 19. Arnold, 20. Brennan, 21. Graou, 22. Chocobares, 23. Ramos.

Blair Kinghorn getting the nod over Ramos is noteworthy, although his goal-kicking has been good of late. Jack Willis is in tremendous form, which I hope he'll bring to the game tomorrow. I like the look of the Toulouse pack , the back row particularly, and will be looking to them to get the upper hand - just!

Leinster : 15. Keenan ; 14. Larmour, 13. Henshaw, 12. Osborne, 11. Lowe ; 10. Byrne, 9. Gibson-Park ; 7. Connors, 8. Doris (cap.), 6. Baird ; 5. Jenkins, 4. McCarthy ; 3. Furlong, 2. Sheehan, 1. Porter.
Replacements: 16. Kelleher, 17. Healy, 18. Ala’alatoa, 19. Ryan, 20. Conan, 21. McGrath, 22. Frawley, 23. van der Flier.

The strong Leinster bench could be key if it's close in the second half.

Matthew Carley is the ref with Karl Dickson and Andrea Pardi the touch judges. Ian Tempest as TMO.

Leinster going 6/2 split on the bench interesting Van de Flier not starting, would have thought you’d risk him even if not fully fit.

Toulouse to win by 5 for me

Don’t you just love to hear the sound of disgruntled Leinster supporters!

Is it just me or does that red card seem really harsh? He's bound onto the ruck, he's low to the ground and the opposition player moves just before contact. Rugby incident?

I would say it was a rugby incident but I'm not surprised it was a red

I couldn’t see where the line was with respect to the ball being on the ground for that Leinster try so I don’t see how it could be given

They compared the time code on the different shots

Head contact so always going to be a card. IMO enough mitigation to go down to a yellow

Bit of a dry game for Posh Richard and I.

Delighted at that result.

Commentary team very Leinster biassed I thought.
But Oh dear, how sad, never mind!

Ironic. Almost as much as the looks on the Leinster players faces at time that Carley was daring to referee them (and they got their rub of the green too).

I can acknowledge Leinster as a great playing side on the pitch and that individual players are very good, but there are just one or two, maybe more, that I cannot take to at all - no matter how much I say "Good player".

Brilliant result, so happy for Toulouse, (thought the red was a bit harsh) a 6* performance - maybe we'll get them next season, a difficult task but a far more enjoyable prospect IMO.

Go paint the town red, and black....

Commentators down here were most impartial 😉. A deserved win, although the set scrum was too vulnerable.
