Was it a penalty at the end?

What was it actually for though? I’ve watched it 5 times and I can’t see anything even slightly resembling a no arms tackle??? Absolutely nothing there whatsoever unless I’m missing something?

I hate criticizing ref's but Gardner let almost a minute burn off the clock while he was trying to find the mark for the final penalty kick, while that alone might not have decided the result it denied a much more exciting finish than just watching France cynically burning the clock down

I said 3/5 was a success but got to be kicking ourselves over that one. How did we manage to not get that win over the line, our own worst enemy.

Thought England played well but made far too many mistakes. To lose on a penalty given for a no-arms tackle was pretty dumb when the team had worked so hard to gain the lead.

Very encouraging couple of weeks, though.

Great game. No complaints at all as every player on both sides gave their all.
Why did Ford keep calling “Mark?” It was to give England time to reset their defence. One lucky France try was the difference and Ramos: great kick at the end.
If Tigers had played like England last night I’d have felt a lot better!
Hope Chessum isn’t injured! Looked like a “ stinger” when he went down!

Seems amazing that they couldn't find a single replay of a game defining penalty though
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

I thought once England went ahead France may panic but they didn't and England started to revert to kicking it away. Contesting but tapping back rather than catching going forward meant Aldritt got more of the tap backs than England did. Some nice strike play tries from England and some opportunist broken play tries from France, mainly from England errors or broken play created by our kicking. Some progress in style by England but some odd selections being embedded from my perspective. Lets see who wins the premiership for their club now.

Fine margins.. Italy could well have beaten France had that kick not hit the bar and were it not for a last gasp penalty tonight they would have been 5th not 2nd! Shows how close it has been this year.. very fine margins! In fact.. weren’t Scotland denied the win late on against France also with an ‘inconclusive’ try? France really rode their luck this year despite being an incredible side

I don’t think France have been anywhere near their best but have certainly got better as the tournament progressed. I’ll have to look at the replays of that tackle but I trust you if you say it was legit

Watched it again and there does seem to be a no arms tackle by Earl.. 76:44 on clock.. dips in to the tackle, very low down.. must have come from the TMO because over 10s elapse before he says advantage..
