Player nicknames...

Post by fentiger »

So, we're fast approaching the silly season :smt044 just thought a bit of fun could be had (I know
some members may struggle with that - no names no pack drill).
Goodey said in commentary it was good to see JVP involved as a water boy today and further remarked the Jack would almost certainly prefer that moniker to his actual nickname. I've no idea what his nickname is and often wonder what other players are labelled (apart from the blindingly obvious ones).
Here we go......

The fact Lieben Berg literally means "Love Mountain" in German & we've done nothing with that as fans always disappoints me.

That's an underestimate, Just how much ball did he aimlessly kick away in their 22 again today? I look forward to JVP returning.

I look forward to seeing JVP out there again as well.

Benny looked to be going for those dinks a bit, I presume it was something spotted in video analysis. Worked out ok in the end when Kelly got there.

JVP i believe is known as Judas Van Portvliert in the squad, or just Judas. Apparently mid-game there were a few bad passes to the 10 in a row that led to that being given to him.

On The Rolling Maul, we have been coming up with player nicknames - these are the ones we have created, entertainingly some have been picked up and become now accepted by everyone.

Tommy Reffell = Tommy Turnover
Julian Montoya = The Emperor
George Martin = Gorgeous George
Anthony Watson = Flash Tony
Matt Scott = Champagne Scotty
Lewis Chessum = Stump

Our group was amused on our recent trip to The Shed during the team announcements, when Tommy Reffell was shown on the scoreboard as Tommy Refill. Not sure it'll catch on, but it has for the four of us!
