It seems as if the rubicon is being crossed.

Will upset a few but I can’t see club rugby surviving without it

Why 20? Why not 23? That would make way more sense to me. And is the £32m shared 10 ways? What if your club is supplying more players? If you’re not supplying any of the elite 20 why should you get anything? All questions that will be raised

It would appear to be similar to cricket in so much as there will be contracted players but selection can be made outside that group if required.
At least if the money is spread throughout the 10 premiership sides they should all survive and encourage them to bring on English talent rather than paying the big bucks to foreign players
Yes there will be questions asked and teething problems but it would seem to be a big step in the right direction

Looks like Borthwick doesn’t rate the coaching and conditioning at prem clubs.

Without knowing full details hard to comment too much though if Borthwick thinks it’s good it probably is.

I think Borthwick thinks too highly of himself.

Although isn't the current system a central contracts lite? This seems to just make it more worthwhile for clubs and England

Yeah fair, he is a bit of a modern day Woodward… all set for him to win the 2027 World Cup beating an Eddie Jones coached Australia in the final before a disastrous Lions tour to New Zealand in 2029, then after bouncing around a few other sports becomes a largely ridiculed pundit on TV.

Largely ridiculed pundit?

Not many rugby fans take Woodward seriously anymore...
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

He gets a lot of stick on social media. General impression is he doesn’t watch a lot of rugby so doesn’t know about any of the players.

No sorry you’ve completely lost me. How does that benefit either club or country. You pick the best 20 players no matter who they play for, though I can’t see the French clubs playing ball
