Guess what ! I’m very happy with that win and will sleep soundly tonight! Dupont was well marshalled by the NZ defence but was often at the heart of French pressure. Bonne nuit à tous!

Or SA to top group......Ireland, France, NZ and SA making up 2 quarter finals....two top teams to go!

Maybe Borthwick’s chess like, no risk approach will have some success in tournament rugby after all - from a NZ perspective this was about wining and finishing top of the group-we sacrificed what we are best at and took far fewer risks - my thoughts
Perhaps they lost because they'd had a few too many slurps?

Yes,the draw done when it was was ridiculous! But a big chance for other teams in the other half of the draw.

At least World Rugby has said that they recognise that the date of the draw for the next one needs to be changed. Hopefully, they will do it at the end of the season before it starts ie 6 to 8 months.

The All Blacks gave away many more penalties and also France seemed to cope much better with / produce unstructured play that they exploited. NZ nullified Dupont to being a near mortal but the French team were more cohesive. I thought the NZ replacements lost it for them compared to the French ones.

NZ missed way too many tackles in the second half too. But France really did turn it up a notch. Thought Scott Barrett was NZ best forward and Telea best back

Looking forward to tomorrows first 2 games. Arguably the first 2 with a lot riding on them. France v NZ wasn’t a must win, neither is Argentina v England. And I still expect Oz to beat Georgia after some scares. But SA v Scotland and Wales v Fiji are huge in the sense that the losers could already be in big trouble. Now I am not saying any team would’ve held anything back but those 2 will be full on blood and thunder! Can’t wait!

The All Blacks will have got more out of the game than France…..an early loss has not put them out of the tournament and gives the coaches things to fix in the remaining pool games…..

Yes,it was a nothing game in the sense that either team could afford to lose it and you can’t avoid anyone by winning the group anyway. Maybe it’s being a tad disrespectful of Italy but that first half NZ of last night would put any version of Italy away

No need to finish top of the group, why do you think that? Just for bragging rights? The QF draw is difficult either way.
