Tigers v Quins (H) - Saturday 06th May 2023 - KO 4-00pm

Post by westwinds31 »

So we’re down to the last regular game of the season. Surely it’s full beans, ready for the physical test up at Sale.

I would agree full beans with the plan of replacing Montoya, Martin, Wiese, Pollard after 40 or 50 minutes providing the game is going ok.
I’ll be interested to see what side Quins send with them pretty much being assured of a top 8 finish and there being no real difference between 6th and 7th

It might depend on who's been carrying a knock and who needs minutes. Be nice to give Ashton and Kini a send off. Snyman to.

West, Montoya, Cole
Martin, Henderson
Liebenburg, Weise, Reffell
Youngs, Pollard
Kelly, Scott
Potter, Steward, Ashton

Dolly, Cronin, Heyes, Snyman, Cracknell, JVP, Atkinson, Kini

Replace the front row on 45 mins, maybe Weise and Youngs as well. Give Atkinson at least 20 mins.

I’d still go as strong as possible and look to get into a position to sub early (which isn’t a given vs Quins and their comebacks…)

Something like:

West, Montoya, Cole
Martin, Henderson
Liebenberg, Reffell, Wiese
JVP, Pollard
Kelly, Scott
Potter, Steward, Watson

Dolly/Clare, Cronin, Heyes, Wells/Snyman, Cracknell, Youngs, Atkinson, Porter/Ashton

Subs depending on injuries and who is likely to need minutes for the SF (e.g. if Porter is fit and likely to feature in the SF then he needs some minutes from the bench)

I think Dolly needs to be on the bench as a priority, just in case he needs to feature in the play offs.

You would think we will have as near as possible to the full strength squad out to get them gelled for the semi final afterwards. I know it's not a must win as long as we don't lose by too many, but it is Welford Road we do need to make a statement don't we?

I appear to have planned rail travel for a 3pm KO but then saw on the fixtures tab of the website that it is 4pm. No problem. But the matchday guide that has come out today talks of a 3pm KO. Does it keep changing and does anyone know for sure please?

With the fact we didn't put any big names in vs Saints we'll go full beans. Otherwise it's a long time since player had a run out

If Wells is fit I may start him but other than that, our team like playing getting minutes in full strength.

Steward
Ashton
Scott
Kelly
Watson
Pollard
Van Poortvliet
West
Montoya
Cole
Wells (if fit)/Henderson
Martin
Liebenberg
Reffell
Wiese

Dolly/Clare
Cronin (if fit)/Whitcombe
Heyes
Henderson/Snyman
Cracknell
Youngs
Atkinson
Porter (if fit)/Potter/Brown

Being a sad git I have just counted spare seats and there are only 71 seats left in the ground - it would be great if we do actually sell out but several areas have 1 seat available in them. wooooooooow

This is where the club miss a trick. If you are down to just a few solo seats, get on social media offering them at a discounted rate, that may get a few people in who are willing to sit appart.

Not sad at all. Obviously there will some season ticket holders who can’t make it, but they will be counted as tickets sold.

I think "full beans" BUT we out to give our number 3 scrum half (whoever that is) the bench slot and some decent minutes. All it'd take is an injury to YBY or JVP and we're back to the uncomfortable scenario from Dublin with a 9 coming on who's either inexperienced and/or has limited gametime with the club. Another 30 minutes or so wouldn't hurt, just in case.
