I like Mike Williams if we can get him back to form

Be a real blow to lose Wells. Mike Williams the penalty magnet is not really someone I want back. If it's purely injury cover then so be it but I don't want him taking game time from the likes of Manz Snr or Chessum Jnr.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 9:52 amCan’t say I’m pleased with that could indicate Wells injury will keep him out for a whileRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 9:48 am Also yeh Mike Williams is coming back from what I gather now as well

Feels like a backward step to me but that is all that is available and an extra body is required then so be. The one thing he does have is experiencesam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 10:24 amBe a real blow to lose Wells. Mike Williams the penalty magnet is not really someone I want back. The few times I saw Mike Williams play for Bath he seemed to have improved on his time with Tigers. I also remember THAT tackle when chasing up a kick at Newcastle...around their 22.

I mean hes a good target for Chessum and Tom Manz to try and overtake in the Prem cup

Yeah but experience normally manifests itself in the ability to make good decisions quickly... Williams makes decisions quickly though I'm not sure I'd say they were good.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 10:38 amFeels like a backward step to me but that is all that is available and an extra body is required then so be. Was going to say, what’s peoples problems with Williams. Granted he was a bit inconsistent but was quality the first season with us which saw him get a spot in the England squad. Great squad player to have around.

But what would they aim for after the first half of game 1?RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 11:26 am I mean hes a good target for Chessum and Tom Manz to try and overtake in the Prem cup

Can’t say I’m buzzing with this one. Thought we’d left this sort of signing behindRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 9:48 am Also yeh Mike Williams is coming back from what I gather now as well

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe
It's a 5 game preseason we will prob do the usual 2 different teams for the first 2 games and then start to build continuity for the final 3 games leading into the premiership
Could have in two packs in the Prem cup of say
Team A
1. Whitcombe, 2. Dolly, 3. Hurd, 4. Carter, 5. Chessum, 6. Rogerson, 7. Ilione, 8. Hatherell
Team B
1. Van Wyk, 2. Clare, 3. Heyes, 4. Williams, 5. Manz, 6. Carnduff, 7. Manz, 8. Cracknell
With the remaining players making up the benches etc.
If short term deal, then if Chessum and Manz both look better than him, it's no issue if it looks like we might like to keep him then he will be cheap

I think it is the inconsistency and also after that first season he has gone no where and hasn’t settled at any club, he also does like to give a penalty away.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 11:27 am Was going to say, what’s peoples problems with Williams. That being said he has the physicality and the experience he may well go on to prove all us doubters wrong, it’s been done before
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe
His discipline was appalling and getting worse for Bath & Exeter, his standards of performance were very low and he was part of the squad with a poor attitude.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 11:27 am Was going to say, what’s peoples problems with Williams. I've got to be honest, I don't rate Williams at all. Thought he was pretty poor for us first time round. That said, the whole team was poor.
