Tigers vs Northampton Saints - Friendly (H) - Monday 17th April 2023 - KO:19:00
Not sure where to put this, but it’s relevant to this.
Dan Richardson starts on the bench for Nottingham as the only Tiger involved. We can then assume that he’s not going to be involved vs Northampton.
Assuming Cole, Heyes, West and Cronin vs Exeter on Sunday - Whitcombe, Hurd, van Wyk, Nephi, Hoyt among those likely to be used as props vs Saints. Unless Richardson is doubling Friday and Monday of course!

I agree with RB
Based on Richardson having basically pushed himself up to "starter" status in recent weeks at Nottingham, for him to be on the bench suggests we're wanting him able to play Monday.
Both Whitcombe and Leatigaga are injured I believe, Whitcombe may not be a long way from a return as I never heard the severity originally.
Suspect
Saints game will be
1. Van Wyk
3. Hurd
17. Richardson
18. Hoyt
If Whitcombe is fit he may be in 17, but think that is doubtful, even if that happens we may be tempted to have Richardson at 18 over Hoyt as he's much more likely to be called on in the case of an injury crisis.

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

I wouldn't be surprised if our HC made an appearance.

Don’t think he’s registered as a player any longer.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:40 pm I wouldn't be surprised if our HC made an appearance.

This is a friendly so would guess that it could include any players

Why does he have to be registered as a player for a friendly? We could play anyone really.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:41 pmDon’t think he’s registered as a player any longer.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:40 pm I wouldn't be surprised if our HC made an appearance.

He is an employee of the club, think that might cover itRugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:52 pmInsurance, not registered as a player no insurance, friendly or not.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:47 pmWhy does he have to be registered as a player for a friendly? Possible, I don’t know just giving my reason. If he does and he doesn’t knackers his ACL and is on crutches for 6 months is not really going to help with the start of England coaching career.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:54 pmHe is an employee of the club, think that might cover itRugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:52 pmInsurance, not registered as a player no insurance, friendly or not.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:47 pm

No way they'll play someone without insurance cover, but I think that can be easily obtained, certainly when I played an old boys rugby match going back to play vs the current team at uni, we literally sorted out our insurance on the day.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:58 pmPossible, I don’t know just giving my reason. I think It used to be you just had to be a member of the club and pay your subs and your were an affiliate of the RFU which gave you critical injury cover.
That wouldn’t cover a knackered knee but would cover a bust neck!

Yes that's how most players are covered, but you can also get independent cover for one off games. I've been covered to play one off games this way. Think last time I played a one off game it was something like £5mightymouse wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 4:16 pm I think It used to be you just had to be a member of the club and pay your subs and your were an affiliate of the RFU which gave you critical injury cover.

However I think it a pointless exercise to debate if we can play a loanee.
Why would we want to?
There are enough players in our squad to play all over the park. Unless we are wanting to use it as a trial for next season (which I can't really see)
I can sort of believe that Wiggy may play the 2nd game (when we don'thave a game that weekend), but even that is a doubt IMO, he'll be too busy coaching the first team.
