Total Runs, Tigers = 106, Bris = 111,
Metres Run with the Ball, Tigers = 188, Bris = 419,
Seems to show its not the quantity of time or distance with the ball. its the quality of that time & how you use it that makes the difference.
Yes statistics can be made to show anything, lies and damn lies. I had a discussion recently about Dombrandt, I didn't think he was playing very well but my learned friend threw so many statists about in support of him, I knew he was wrong. There are 2 sides to them.

Stats can provide an insight but you have to take more than just a small snapshot and dig into the detail.

How many metres on average after contact is far more meaningful for instance than metres run. A fullback can wrack up the metres carried by running kicks back but if he gets smashed by the first defender the 25m made is pretty much worthless and certainly worth less than 5m a number 8 makes crashing through traffic giving his side momentum.

Think the key is meters "with the ball in hand"

We certainly gained more meters kicking than they did. Our kick-chase was good.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

This shows you can either run or kick the ball .. if you kick effectively and chase efficiently then it if more successful than running inefficiently

But do the stats show metres run or metres gained from the gain line, I think its the later?

Certainly in test rugby the stats show the teams that kick the balls more win more.

I recommend Squidge Rugby's video on why teams kick so much

Save me as apart from his try I thought he was average. Caught twice in possession dithering and threw a nightmare pass to Brown for him to kick to touch to clear our lines and had a couple of knock on from passes to him.
Part of the problem was Carley’s decision not to award penalties for dominant scrummaging until the second half. Twice in the first 21 minutes we were nudging forward quite well and Carley insisted we use it, allowing Randall to harass Lenny into a scrambled clearing pass.

One of the trials currently taking place in the southern hemisphere is that the opposition 9 can’t move past the tunnel, May well be spread worldwide
