Who is in your World Cup 23?

Post by LE18 »

After yesterdays terrible display, SB must hope that he can wipe the slate of this current squad,
Who would be in your 23 if you had a free pick of all English qualified players?

Interesting to see these early selections, after yesterdays display, Stewards lack of pace was shown up but you both have stuck with him.

I don't think on a 2 on 1 you can complain about his pace.

For me he's still one of the first names on the teamsheet.

If you look at the top sides, their 12/13 midfield have some stardust. We have Lawrence and Slade, good players but won’t stress out the top defences. Ok, Kelly could come in but that’s where we’re lacking as there’s no one else knocking at the door sadly.

I don't think Manu is completely out of the picture, not that he is the player he once was.

Genge LCD Sinclair
Itoje Chessum
T. Curry Mercer T Pearson
JVP Farrell
Kelly Lawrence
OHC Steward Arundell

Dan- yes that is how desperate we are at hooker- picking a random bloke I’ve seen play 20 minutes for Sarries. I also looked at his height and weight on Wikipedia- 4 ft 6 inches and 34 stone.
Obano
Stuart
Martin
Willis T
Quirke
Ford
Slade

England don’t have a big pack anymore. We are pounder puff compared to yesteryear but we do have players with pace so that’s what im going with. Woodward made point about the athleticism of the French pack and I agree. It’s not just size it’s their dynamism we struggled with.

I would pick Lawes in the row but he is never fit.

England’s lack of strengths in depth in certain positions is terrible but open side is not one of them. They have options at scrum half but these are untested due to Jones. Front row and number eight the choices are very poor. What is notable though is that England are, for the most part, a very young side and at least that offers some hope.

I guess another name that is not mentioned much now given he hasn't played in a good long while but does Nic Dolly have an outside shot at the WC squad.
