Keep Mike Brown

Post by Ian Cant »

I really do hope we can keep Brown beyond the end of March. He has been sensational for us and with Dan Kelly out for quite a considerable time Mike Brown gives us that tenacity and flair that we’ve been missing. His work rate yesterday was sensational and the rapport with us fans is getting to be like the one we had with Freddie Burns. Please Tigers somehow keep him longer.

I have no idea where we are salary cap wise this season or next. It may be we only signed Brown for the 6N because we're RIGHT up to the limit. If that's the case then I hope we can keep him as a consultant for the remainder of the season and then sign him next.

Must say he seems hungry to prove himself again. I think that was what Ashton was like last season. Now he has another title I've not quite seen the hunger from Ashton this season.

Personally I hope we can get Ashton to 100 prem tries then allow him to retire. Think a couple of the knocks he's picked up has been a struggle for him to get back that hunger he clearly had when he first came here to prove himself.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Kini's been injured since November so I'd guess Brown is injury dispensation. If so there should be space. He won't be earning much given he's been out of contract.

I suggested Brown at the end of last season as I felt he offered a more like for like replacement for Steward. Once he'd been out of contract for half a season I'll admit I was more sceptical but welcomed the signing as at that point we pretty much needed bodies in the back three! He's been terrific though.

It wouldn't surprise me if Brown is re-signed until the end of the RWC to cover potential absentees.

Brown as cover to the end of the RWC would be good. We've got Shillcock incoming who's a very good fullback as well as being able to cover 10.

Brown would be a great third option for us but I suspect he'll get a better offer after his spell with us what with the cap constrains. A second division French team would probably offer him the security of a multi year deal.

After today’s superb performance v Gloucester, surely Mike Brown needs keeping at least until the end of the season!

Biggest question is how our back 3 looks for the run-in. Watson-Brown-Steward?

If Tigers lose Mike Brown I will take my clothes off and streak around Welford Road the next home game.

If Mike Brown stays, I'll keep my clothes on.

Can't say fairer than that.

Happy to admit I was wrong about Brown, he's been nearly flawless.

Potter has been a bit out of form of late, and has probably earned a rest, so a Steward/Brown/Watson back 3 would be my first choice at the moment.
