No. Do I think I could do a better job coming to the right decisions as a stand alone incident with the help of umpteen replays with different angles used? Yes,I genuinely do. And others on here would too I've no doubt

A brave, but perhaps a cynical one. I appreciate he was never going to let Freddie get the ball in a month of Sundays, but the ref doesn't even consider that when the Irish player is in effect becoming the defender, then he also owes a duty of care.
He led with his head into Freddie's elbow. No, but really I don't like criticising Refs but that was a shocking decision.

I believe the red card will be rescinded.

BO’D defending the decision, surprise, surprise as if a player is to open himself up if he sees a collision coming his way and can’t avoid!

But more interestingly there’s an unrelated comment from Johnny Sexton in there: ‘ We did exactly the opposite of what the coaches told us! But we did it in the end.’

From the Guardian "After the match, it is understood that Peyper expressed his fear he would not be appointed to referee another high-profile game in future had he not sent Steward off" ..make off that what you will.

I'm sure there are people out there who believe that because he gave the red card, he shouldn't referee a high-profile game again!

World Cup final coming up... All it take is the results to go his way and he's probably in contention for it.

He probably had photos taken with Irish fans after the match..,. or is that just Welsh fans he does that with after a red card?

To be fair as an ambassador for our sport I have no problem with him stopping for a picture if a fan asks. Interacting with fans is a good thing for officials, helps maintain the human image and avoid the us and them football mentality between fans and officials.

I had to log in to lol at that! For what its worth, I think most of us in Ireland thought it would be a yellow.
Freddie is clearly not going for the ball and decides to go for the player cause hes not gonna make it = penalty
Freddie clearly moves forward into the collision lifting his elbow up = red
Keenan is low in height (mitigation) = reduced to yellow
No ban
Slap on the wrist for Peyper
For me anyway.
Love from Leinster
