Top man Freddie . On both times being a Tiger (should never have lost the first time round) he has been a great club man in all senses of the word .. he may not be from Lestaah… but .. he is and will ever be a true Tiger! 🐅

Such a shame he is going but cannot blame him for taking up such a fantastic opportunity to play in New Zealand. His drop goal will live in our memory for years to come as will his personality.

I don't think anyone can begrudge the guy a shot at living and working in NZ. Hopefully we'll see him at WR before he leaves and then as many times as possible as a visiting hero in the coming years / decades.

Best of luck Fred!

Freddie Burns - Leicester Tigers Legend!

Thank you for giving me a very special moment with my son. I don't mind telling people I cried when THAT KICK went over. To have my 14 year old son seeing Tigers back where they belong after years of me telling him how we used to be was just amazing.

Sad to see you go, but this oppotunity is too big to let go. Good luck.

Farewell, Freddie - loved his attitude, which always struck me as a little ‘old-school’, pre-professional era. Played with heart but with a sense of not taking the game disproportionally seriously.

It was somehow fitting for me that the moment he’ll be remembered for will be the scruffiest, ugliest - and most wonderful - drop goal in history!

Incidentally, I watched the kick surrounded by Sarries fans high up in the West Stand - and the guy in front of me, once he’d finished cursing, turned round and said “well, I’m gutted, but I can take losing to Freddie Burns….he’s such a lovely fella”. There’s not many players these days that manage to cut through the tribal loyalty of club rugby…but our Freddie was one of them.

I'll second this. I've always liked Freddie and as others have said the final move of last season nailed him on as a Tigers Great.

Sorry to see you go, Freddie, but I wish you and yours all the very best. Gives me an excuse to watch NZ rugby.

Thanks Freddie, for the memories, the ups and the downs, the highs and the lows but most of all for the Premiership win 2021/22.

Good luck in NZ :smt039

Thanks, Freddie for everything you have done for this club, and your interview says it all, you are a true Tiger. When you come back to visit us, please come and have a beer with us in the Cumbie lounge - I would love to buy you at least one and I know I am not alone.
