Just to check, Wigglesworth isn’t up to it, Liebenburg isn’t captain material & the line out is rubbish. We’ve lost by a point , deservedly. Half our team are at the 6 Nations. Edwards’ first game at this level, he needs to learn. Watson, Burns, Wiese, first game back. Pollard off. There are reasons why we may not have been as fluent as we should have been. That said, you’d expect us to win that game. Saints backs were that bit more clinical.

if that were true the man of the match wouldn't have played after the 10th minutesapajo wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 4:57 pmHealey being the TMO all match as perBig Dai wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 4:53 pmIt was Austin providing TMO/CommentaryDeadlyDunc wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 4:51 pm Seen it on Twitter - he was holding his leg by the ankle but there is nothing more than that unless you want to invent something to fit a narrative.

Burns did well at 15 IMHO, but not in the same league as Pollard at 10 today.Woeful is harsh.mol2 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 5:13 pm Burns, last game or not, was woeful.
This was a side devoid of a strategy on how to win.
Forwards bosh up one on one and recycle slowly. Take the ball standing and get stopped on the gain line. Repeat and then hoof it back to them.
The centres didn't see the ball. The scrum half and fly half just hoofed it back to them in the hope they might drop it! All well and good sending Watson to chase the kicks and try and tap back but that was so easily countered because no one else was within a mile of receiving the tap back.
Clearly this is a task beyond Wigglesworth alone and we should get someone to advise in the short term.
I completely agree with the rest though.

Now back from the game: it’s always painful to lose against Saints but Richard Wigglesworth deserves the same time Borthwick was given. Have we forgotten the very poor performances under Borthwick this season: Saracens away we’d lost by half time Sale at home: woeful!
A draw today would have been about right.
With players coming back having not played for awhile it’s not surprising the backs struggled BUT Sam Edwards had an excellent game.
Injuries in the game blighted us too: Reffell a huge loss, Pollard would have made the difference if he hadn’t been injured: Freddie was limping from very early second half.
For those moaning about the coaching, sorry, Richard Wigglesworth stepped in when we needed someone mid season.
Than Borthwick takes nearly half the team, Cronin gets injured on his comeback and we were always going to struggle.
Last season we had the luck but this season, so far we haven’t.
George Martin was immense when he came on but we missed Green and Lady Gaga who are underrated forwards.
Oh and the next fixture: Saracens so no doubt there will be more moaners.
Time to get behind the team and finally:
though we lost it was great that even the Saints’ fans( well the ones near us) cheered Freddie off.
Well done Saints. Hard luck Tigers.

Well just back from the match, another disappointing outing. We were clueless most of the time and aside from Potter’s breakthrough tries we did not really create very much. There were errors all over the place (knock ons and yet again a faltering line out) and utterly aimless kicking, - we really do have to come up with a better strategy than “hoof it up the field and hope their back three knock on/fail to catch the ball.
Bottom half of the table now, and that is precisely where we deserve to be. It is what happens when your management allow the Head Coach and his deputy to walk out half way through the season, and then put a complete novice in charge. I do not mean to be harsh on Wiggy, but from a coaching perspective that is exactly what he is.

Wigglesworth inherited the current premiership champions Borthwick inherited a side that were only saved from relegation by Sarries. Hardly a fair plea that he should be given the same time as Borthwick is it? Not to mention the fact that WW has no where near the coaching experience of Borthwick and is learning on the job and that is the problem just like Murphy did
Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity

Mmmm...
A close game that could have gone either way, and if Pollard hadn't been taken out by that Keystone Cops moment then I fancy Tigers would have edged it.
That said, the performance wasn't really good enough, was it?
A potent mix of errors and a crippling lack of ambition. A very disappointing game plan, especially at home against a much changed Northampton line up.
Id love for Wiggy to make a case for getting the role full time, but Clermont aside, I am not sure what evidence he could bring to the interview, and certainly not the results of him as attack coach.
There was clearly no intention to move the ball quickly today, or change the point of attack. In fairness to the players this was what they had been instructed. However, with the hit and hope gameplan you kind of have to win, otherwise it is just not worth it and raises too many other questions.
I don't think there is any point Tigers finishing 3rd or 4th, but European qualification is a must.

I don’t blame Edwards because he didn’t do anything wrong but he was so slow it stopped all of our attacking. From that Freddie’s(Handre could whip the ball wide) only option was to kick it or get hit backwards….. wouldn’t have been an issue if Wigglesworth was still playing

Defensively Tigers were pretty good..1 try conceded. Discipline cost 12 points.
Decision making....should have built a score with kickable penalties

How many losses is that now recently,4 in 5 games or 5 in 6?
