Slade out with a hip injury
Jamie George rejoins the squad.
Anthony Watson is recalled to the squad. - Thrilled for him as has looked good in patches this season. When on form he is one of the best wingers in England.
8 Tigers now in the squad, with Henderson with Scotland and Reffell with Wales that makes 10 on 6N duty.
Good job we have no game next week…

Let's not forget we will have Reffell & Henderson for this one at least.
Key will be is which England players get released for this as it is a bye week, Heyes for example could be huge for is if released!
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

That's why they needed a last min try to rescue a single point win yesterday against bottom of the table?Scott1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 7:48 pmTbf there’s usually not that much drop off when they are missing players the way they are coached!TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 7:42 pmTbf the form Sarries are in with their England contingent I'm happy to play them without them all.

(think it was Bath who were bottom when they beat us) while we were close to full strength too

Re: England squad
This situation is becoming ridiculous with 10 players out, on top of how ever many are injured. All the more reason to change the current domestic-international match timetable, or introduce some rules so that no more than x players are taken from any one team.RunTigerRun wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 7:14 pm Latest Squad Update from Borthwick:

Even with all our six nations boys out, that is not a weak team to put out. There is great depth at the club, and thats not to mention guys like Ilione and Chessum who are coming through too. The big benefit to the international weeks is that these guys get blooded.

Not a weak team to put out but some are out injured........London Irish at full strength (minus 1 player) and with Paddy Jackson running their back line will cause problems for Tigers on 25th..........not expecting anything out of that game........any return of points would be a good birthday present.TTRITH wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:15 am 15. Ben White & Ollie Hassell-Collins. Don't think it's a bye week is it?

Re: England squad
Scott1 what do you mean by an 'internationals excuse'? I assume that you don't think that having 11 (now Watson added) potentially away on 6N duty impacts on our league performance?Scott1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:16 amThis tight here is why i don't buy the internationals excuse. The problems are
1. Some of those mentioned in that 23 are unlikely to have played together much for example.
2. When I pay to watch a Tigers game, I'd prefer to see our star players.

Re: England squad
Oh dear, yet more moans about a depeleted club squad due to international call-ups.
The national team has always had primacy over the clubs, perhaps even more so in the professional era, and I doubt it's going to change. Some have suggested changing the season format to avoid club vs country fixture clashes. That's unlikely as it would lead the international players playing approx. ten more games a year potentially (plus a 12-month season) and that would be going against player welfare concerns. Limiting the number of times a player could be called up by the national team isn't going to fly either - the players won't want to miss out on the fees for paying for England and the RFU won't want to play an A+ team.
Talk of a breakaway league is a commercial non-starter. Without the RFU handouts, the clubs won't survive on current crowds and commercial activities. There's no magic wand to convert casual 6N viwers into club supporters - if there were, it'd have been wafted by now. The top players would defect and sign central contracts with the RFU.
Time to apply the "Serenity Prayer"?!
