You mean the same as he did for last seasons away European games for a competition that we have little or no chance of winning. Yeah you’re right it makes no sense at all
An English team has been in the final 50% of the time since it's been the Champion's Cup. Why no chance?
So with that question I’m assuming that you aren’t aware of the French sides with budgets 4 or 5 times bigger than the premiership clubs or the likes of Leinster that are the Irish National side in all but name, who along with the other Irish provinces regularly play weakened sides in the URC so as to save their better players for Europe.
Last English winners were Saracens and we all know what happened there.

As I said for both the away games in Europe last season Tigers played a mixed side and won both. Whatever side Borthwick selects he expects them to win, but the priority has to be, particularly bearing in mind the restrictions on our English players and the work loads of the likes of Wiese and Montoya, top 4 hopefully top 2 in the premiership.

The days of playing your best team every week and running them into the ground are long gone.

That's a bit of a powerful Ospreys team and with ex-Tiger Owen Williams getting new employment since Worcester, shame we could not find space but he is getting mature since he departed here!

So looking at the "Rested Tigers" for a bit of fun we could form a great and in my mind a stronger team~
Steward, Ashton, Cokanasiga, Shelley / Simmons, Murimurivalu, Burns, Ben Youngs :
Cronin, Montoya, Cole, Green, Henderson, Reffell, Wiese, Ilione. Wow! our depth is exciting! :smt003

Wouldn’t say it was stronger unless you maybe include Pollard, but your point re strength in depth is an excellent one

Stronger squad :smt017 :smt017 Not judging by our replacements last week, in fact other weeks as well. First 15 or so yes, but some weaker ones after.

With all the rotation, the news surrounding the team & the opposition going full beans, this game has the feeling of a free hit for us. Thing is these "free hit" games are the ones Borthwick seems to either win or come very close.

Looks forward to it either way!
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Of the 8 games played so far this weekend there have been 3 away wins, including a fantastic performance by Leinster and Montpellier being helped hugely by Creevy red card.
There does seem to be a move towards get what you can from the away games and must win at home.

No Simmons in the 11 shirt. Has played wing under Borthwick too...

Guessing he was the travelling reserve covering scrum half & the back 3.
