If only Mako could scrummage a bit better this whole palava could have been avoided.

I thought this too.

Another 'if' - if only Smith, Farrell (& Ford) weren't fit to play atthe same time.

I'm not sure we're out of the woods yet. The RFU's statement says,
"Changes [are] set to be announced in the near future. In the interim, Richard Cockerill will take over the day to day running of the men’s performance team."
Given the Six Nations doesn't start for a couple of months, it could still be the case that they get Borthwick in place before then.

Well I'm fairly confident in saying this is a dreadful decision and I'm pretty confident in saying Borthwick won't be the savior and he'll unfortunately end of on the coaching scrap head in a few years time. All because the RFU are a gutless organization who always take the easy option.

I would be disappointed if Steve decided to ditch us mid season and I would be disappointed in the club to allow it. I've also seen the rumour that he would be taking Sir Kev too.

I reckon it's 50:50 Borthwick sees out the season with us...

However Cockerell being interim does give us more than a week or two to plan a strategy not just midweek have a different coach at the weekend
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

This is just about the worst possible option they could have taken given how they have backed Eddie up until now, if it is Borthwick for the WC then he has to go now no matter how much that effects us at Tigers otherwise you are setting him up to fail at the WC. No doubt those who had the knives out for Eddie will be quick to crucify the next guy as well when he doesn't succeed given the seemingly self inflicted handicap they are imposing on him.

I note from a quick review of the internet, that Borthwick commenced for us in February 2020. Assuming he's contracted to us until at least February 2023, this is far too late for the 6 nations.
Let's hope Cockers is a success.

strongly disagree. Taking Borthwick now wrecks our season. Don’t give a toss about England

The next few press conferences at Tigers are going to be interesting......

The club could nip it all in the bud though with a statement.

I would guess the club were planning for a new head honcho for next season.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

I've not been a fan of Jones for a long time but this does feel typically ham-fisted from the RFU. There isn't really a plan isn't there? Messy
