Yep but that assumes if it's paid the club don't spend it for other purposes.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 9:54 pm could have any coach within reason we want with that money.

I mean I doubt the club would spend an over million on coaches.sapajo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 10:12 pmYep but that assumes if it's paid the club don't spend it for other purposes.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 9:54 pm could have any coach within reason we want with that money.
But nothing suggest they wouldn’t spend a big wedge on replacement cosches

Part of the problem we might find is that other clubs would know we've had a big RFU pay out. They might hike their prices if we come calling for their coaches.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 10:48 pmI mean I doubt the club would spend an over million on coaches.sapajo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 10:12 pmYep but that assumes if it's paid the club don't spend it for other purposes.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 9:54 pm could have any coach within reason we want with that money.

Mail is saying we want £500k to release Borthwick early and so I am guessing that the 2 million figure is based on us releasing all 4 people they are interested in at a cost of £500k per person. RFU are offering the reported £200k. This is what happens when you blow your negotiating position by sacking the current coach and making is known that all of your plans rest on one person who is already in a contract.
Personal feelings are that it will go one of 2 ways, Borthwick will go and have to wait until the summer for the others to join or they will all go for a payment around the million pound mark.
Certainly the inferences are that the RFU want this tied up before the Tigers press conference tomorrow for the weekend match and I suspect that we would rather that as well so a bit of frantic negotiation to be done. I appreciate that we do not want to stand in Borthwick's way but also we should not roll over to allow the move to happen.

He has a cunning plan you know.....
Robinson Jnr is at Coventry now.
To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Next England Head Coach (Pre &/or Post World Cup)
There is no way for any money that we should be letting 4 coaches go now. Maybe Borthwick and WW but make them wait for Aled and Kev until after the six nations.

My thoughs on this go back and forth. Sometimes I am in full agreement with you, other times i think that if the money is good enough, maybe taking that is a better option as there is no relegation this season and so it is a bit of a free hit. No right or wrong answer but I can see the positives and negatives to both.
What I would be fairly certain about is that we would be hard pressed to prise a coach out of an existing contract with another club mid season and so we need to make any decision based on a makeshift coaching structure until the season ends. You also have to thnk that any coach with international aspirations may not want to take a position until after the world cup as that is when the intenational vacancies are going to start opending up again.

Have posted b4, Walters is the one to keep. We can execute any game plan with 101% fit players.
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

Re: Next England Head Coach (Pre &/or Post World Cup)
To be honest, the whole episode reminds me of when the RFU decided to make the game professional. No plan in place. Jump off a cliff and hope for a parachute. What a shambles
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….
