PRC - Tigers v Saracens (A) - Saturday 19th November 2022 - KO 1-00pm

Post by TigerFeetSteve »

So a PRC game, will be interesting to see how we approach this and what side we pick.

Also who's fit, I think Whitcombe for example I think may be injured as I spotted Richardson not him as a travelling reserve to the Bath game (that's not to say he's not fit just a feeling I have)

Also it'll be interesting if he wants to give say Atkinson a start or not. I doubt it tbh....

I know it’s highly unlikely that Borthwick will given the sides er have played in the cup, and also the plastic carpet at the Stone-X, but I think the Bath game shows we need to get rid of some ring-rust and build a bit of momentum.

I’d love to see a ‘full strength’ team to build into the LI game, or if not totally full, then at least combinations, so the same hooker and locks, and 9-10-12-13 for example.

Can’t help but think with us already likely out of the competition and momentum games already against us, we should just go full bore in prep for a tough match against Irish on the 27th.

There are certainly some players who would benefit from game time that wouldn't normally be in our PRC team, Cockansigna is certainly one, he should start in the position the coaches think he should be aiming for longer term.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

For me would go with backline of
9. Edwards
10. Atkinson (Could do with some match time)
11. Shelly
12. Gopperth (Makes sense with Atkinson connection IMO)
13. Cokanasiga
14. Saumaki
15. Walsh (Honestly looks a better 15 than 10)

21. Simmons
22. Woodward
23. Cusick

PRTV are only covering the Premiership matches that are not being shown live, PRC not included

Looks like only Hoyt is turning out for Nottingham so could be a mix and match team or another full PRC selection.

Seems strange that we select a Nottingham loanee on the wing (Ramage) ahead of our own player (Browning). I wonder if it's part of our partnership with them that we have to guarantee a certain amount of game time.

No Shelley, Vanes and Simmons the more bigger surprises there I think; especially with Simmons featuring prominently in the social media pictures this week. Ramage a start over Browning also noticeable. Perhaps Browning isn't quite impressing Borthwick and injuries meant its not worth risking players on the Saracens carpet...

Good that Jansen gets a Captaincy chance in a core group with Edwards and Whitcombe.

Otherwise, can't wait to see Cokanasiga get some more game time and Atkinson a first start at 10. Good mix in there, should be a great game!

Think it's probably a week too soon for Simmons.

Previously when players have been coming back from injury they normally start to appear in training pics a couple of weeks before being match fit.

I like the balance in the squad looks a strong team, but still a PRC development team at the same time. Gives players gametime who need it.
