Doubling down on the kicking game, without the obvious jackle in the forwards to win the ball. If Reffell is unavailable then I wonder if Martin, Cracknell and Wiese would have been the better bet with Hanro being rested on the bench.

Wigglesworth at 9 is an odd call. The persistence of Burns at 10 and Jimmy at 12 is frustrating. It doesn't suit Freddie's game to have another playmaker at 12, and Jimmy is showing his age at the moment. Would like to have seen Phil Cokanasiga start alongside Scott in the centres, with Jimmy on the bench.

Also, where is Whitcombe?

9, 10 & 12 have 110 years between them. Just thought I'd mention that.

People knew that Youngs and JVP were away all week with England training', I am not surprised Wiggy starts.

Good question but I’d rather see Lady Gaga covering loosehead than Van Wyk.
Re Wigglesworth, JVP and Lenny have both been with England, he has been training. Can only assume Lenny has either picked up a knock or one of his required rest weekends as an England squad member

Gopperth doesn't work for me at all in the starting lineup.

Tbf whilst he wouldn't have been my pick for 9, Wigglesworth does in my head make the most sense this week.

With both Youngs and JvP likely in the AI squad we need Wigglesworth to have game time.

With both Youngs and JvP having been away from the squad training this week, Wigglesworth will have been doing all the drills with the team so if there was one week he'd start before the AI's it was going to be this one.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Trouble is who are you putting there instead with Pollard, Kelly and Porter all injured.

Phil Cokanasiga.

Phil and Scott in the centres offer something different.

I'd take a 1 point win and 4 points on the board now.

It’s going to be a very tough game and with Autumn internationals coming even the easier weeks look difficult.
Last year we were very lucky with both injuries and international call ups prior to Christmas.. this year we’ve copped for the lot!!

After last weekend's debacle, Sale were always going to fancy their chances for this one. The Sharks will smell blood in the water!
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….
