It will be interesting how our scrum goes against them, now they have lost Koch I can't imagine they will be as solid come scrum time this season and with Itoje & Isiekwe out they might be a bit lightweight in the 2nd row as well.

Looked that way in the highlights v Gloucester maul defence seemed to struggle too. I would imagine their new Pumas tighthead isn’t available yet.

I haven't watched that game back yet but if Gloucester had good success against them hopefully it might be an area we can take advantage of as well.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 12:23 pmLooked that way in the highlights v Gloucester maul defence seemed to struggle too. Any team (that abides by the salary cap) would feel a significant loss of both Itoje and Isiekwe, given they are two inernational standard players (Itoje is World class not just international class)wigworth wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 1:46 pmI haven't watched that game back yet but if Gloucester had good success against them hopefully it might be an area we can take advantage of as well.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 12:23 pmLooked that way in the highlights v Gloucester maul defence seemed to struggle too. Certainly 2nd row is an area we should be hopeful of having ascendancy.

I see they played Tizard and McFarland at 2nd row against Gloucester, so while there is a drop off from Itoje and Isiekwe their replacements are not bottom of the barrel players. Having 3 England 2nd rows can't come cheap.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 2:09 pmAny team (that abides by the salary cap) would feel a significant loss of both Itoje and Isiekwe, given they are two inernational standard players (Itoje is World class not just international class)wigworth wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 1:46 pmI haven't watched that game back yet but if Gloucester had good success against them hopefully it might be an area we can take advantage of as well.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 12:23 pm

I would put Tizard in the Harry Wells bracket, not yet regularly international class but may get there. McFarland is a heck of a talent but much of a 6 for me. As a Samoan he is probably less expensive than others.
Just think that 3 seasons ago they had Itoje Kruis, Isekwe, Kopoku and Skelton all on their books at the same time. Just don’t know how they afforded it

Yeah it was a tongue in cheek comment but he did swap clubs over the summer so I would imagine there was a decent pay increase for him. Yeah I agree McFarland is a back rower but he is pretty tall so he is probably the next man up to fill the 2nd row in emergencies.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 3:56 pm I would put Tizard in the Harry Wells bracket, not yet regularly international class but may get there. So this is my stab at a team given we know Watson is injured...
15. Steward
14. Ashton
13. Cokanasiga
12. Porter
11. Nadolo
10. Burns
9. Youngs
1. Cronin
2. Clare
3. Cole
4. Wells
5. Chessum
6. Martin
7. Reffell
8. Liebenberg
16. Taufete'e
17. Van Wyk
18. Heyes
19. Green
20. Cracknell
21. Van Poortvliet
22. Gopperth
23. Murimurivalu
Given the PRC game don't think we can expect Whitcombe for example to come in.
Think I'd keep mostly the same, couple of tweaks. Potter/Ashton/Murimurivalu/Nadolo is the big decision.

Think we will keep the midfield of Burns, Gopperth, Porter, with Cocanasinga on the bench.
Wouldn’t surprise me to see a certain Springbok 8 on the bench.

I think a bit too early for him, UNLESS someone has an injury.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 4:20 pm Think we will keep the midfield of Burns, Gopperth, Porter, with Cocanasinga on the bench.

They all looked ok other than Reffell shoulder. If there was an issue I wouldn’t think that both Jansen and Ilione would be starting tomorrowTigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 4:22 pmI think a bit too early for him, UNLESS someone has an injury.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 4:20 pm Think we will keep the midfield of Burns, Gopperth, Porter, with Cocanasinga on the bench.

Agree, but could see Wiese as a travelling reserve, but post jet lag doubt we'll pick him unless forcedRugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 4:51 pmThey all looked ok other than Reffell shoulder. Shouldn’t be jet lag as they have come up from Durban. Obviously it’s a long flight thoughTigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 5:41 pmAgree, but could see Wiese as a travelling reserve, but post jet lag doubt we'll pick him unless forcedRugbygramps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 4:51 pmThey all looked ok other than Reffell shoulder.
