I’m hoping Burns will be back, even off the bench will be massive.
Think with the new HIA rules he needs a minimum of 8 days off after a failed HIA so there's no chance of playing.
Have you got a good link for those (I can't find one)? From what I can find its 12 days for concussion (diagnosed concussion I presume), but provisions are available for those who've failed HIA but with limited symptoms, history etc.

Found this.. there's a return to play guidelines download link.

There is a senario that says 7 days, but worth noting it all starts with "confirmed concussion"

Is a failed HIA a confirmed concussion?
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

I don't think so, as this was the issue surrounding Sexton in NZ, he failed one of the assessment's but then passed the others and played the following week.

That was prior to the new rules being in place

Well a confirmed concussion can only really happen after a player has done the HIA3 (36-48 hours post-head impact event) so I would have surely thought that that would that be considered the time from which the rest period starts. Which would for sure mean that they will miss the next weekends game.

This bringing players back early smacks of desperation and shows a lack of care over the players. I'd much rather our England guys are given an extra week rather than rushed back for a game Vs Falcons. The season is long.
This weekend isn't rushing them back. They've been in full training for 5(?) weeks and the 10 week period will have expired. Why penalise yourself unnecessarily when you could only have the England players available for half the league matches anyway.
10 weeks makes the available for match week 3.
Ah yes. Apologies. I'd been thinking (all summer!) that the 10 weeks expired at lunchtime on the 17th September, but you're correct, it's lunchtime on the 24th. Back to school for me then! :smt003

I'm not sure an HIA is a confirmed concussion. All a failed HIA confirms is that you've failed the HIA, which isn't a medical diagnosis. Confirmed concussion surely can only be confirmed afterwards.

I'm wary of trusting the validity and currency of anything on the World Rugby site. Which is awkward, for them, as I can't be the only one! :smt002 :smt003

I could see Heyes returning but presuming the England tourists that started tests won't be available and Burns is out I'd go with:

1.Whitcombe 2.Clare 3.Cole 4.Wells 5.Henderson 6.Martin 7.Reffell 8.Hanro (c)
9.Youngs 10.Gopperth 11.Nadolo 12.Cokanasiga 13.Scott 14.Potter 15.Ashton/Watson

16.Taufete'e 17.Leatigaga 18.Heyes 19.Snyman 20.Cracknell 21.Wigglesworth 22.Hegarty/Walsh 23.Kini

We lacked go forward last week so it'd be brilliant to have a front row bench of Nephi, Taufete'e and Heyes to fire on.

Watson returning would be a big boost to balance in the back three.

Having Porter back in the midfield with Scott would be ideal but if he's seeing out the full 10 week rest period then I think Cokanasiga has impressed enough to deserve a shot there.

Steve Borthwick has named the Leicester Tigers matchday squad for the club’s first home game of the 2022/23 Gallagher Premiership season.

Tigers take on Newcastle Falcons at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Saturday, September 17 in Round 2.

Hanro Liebenberg will lead the side out at home for the first time in a Gallagher Premiership fixture since being appointed club captain with Dan Cole and Ben Youngs named as his vice-captains for the match.

Included in the matchday squad are four players - Ollie Chessum, Joe Heyes, Jack van Poortvliet and Guy Porter - who will make their first appearance of the new season after touring with the England senior men’s side in the summer.

James Cronin and Jimmy Gopperth will make their first league appearance at home as Leicester Tigers players, while Phil Cokanasiga and Olly Cracknell will make theirs if used from the bench.

Joe Taufete’e, who was an unused replacement in Round 1, is in line for his senior Leicester Tigers debut and first home appearance.

Love the team, Martin and Chessum at 6 & 7

Power in defence to crush them into submission.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Tbf I more see in the loose that Liebenberg will play more the 7 role, just that he'll be at 8 off our own ball

I reckon he'll flip-flop with Leibenberg at the scrum and in some defensive set ups. 7 in name only!

I guess Youngs, but will be interesting.

I wonder if Porter is becoming ever more adaptable?
