I went on Friday, much needed win for Notts. Tight first half, Hartpury sent a much changed side with a few academy players featuring, from Glaws & Brizzle I think. Vanes got around 50 mins, was busy, decent set piece/line out and got a few carries in. Ilione is a mystery to me. I’ve seen many comments on here saying he’s on the cusp of the first team, but I’ve seen him at Notts several times and he’s not stood out at all. It’s a strange one. Clearly highly thought of but I don’t get it.

Dan Richardson starting at Tighthead for Nottingham again (after a few weeks of us keeping him as travelling reserve, with Cronin back and Cole soon back from England it's good he's back getting gametime)
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Agbongbon looks like he’s bulked up, now playing 8.
Cheering on the Tigers in Detroit.
Previously a slower, shorter, less good looking version of Tom Croft.

From memory Tomiwa was an 8 for them prior to signing as well.

Henri Lavin was also in the back row for the final game of their victorious BUCS campaign earlier this week. The first time Loughborough have lifted the BUCS title. I thought Henri was such a talented flanker prior to missing a lot of rugby. I'm delighted he's fit and playing well. I really hope he can bounce back up if he wishes.

That said Teddy Leatherbarrow (skippering them on the openside) is also highly rated. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a contract somewhere. Maybe even Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Charlie Titcombe and Joe Plunkett in that BUCS side too.

Ollie Smith was in their listed squad last season but not this one. I hope he's still playing somewhere. Up there with the most surprised I've been at a player not getting a dev squad contract when Ollie missed out.

The modern BUCS Super League. They've won the BUCS Championship in it's various forms many times since the 1950s.

Leatherbarrow is contracted to Exeter I think. He is an Anglo-Scot so could always recant and play for England ....

There are a few players from the 18s I'm surprised haven't rocked up somewhere even in the national leagues. Ollie Ashworth is another. Cannot see him on team sheets anywhere in BUCS or in the National Leagues.

The Leatherbarrow down at Chiefs is the younger brother of the Loughborough Students captain, who also does some part time coaching at the local schools.

I hope we are having a look at Lavin and Leatherbarrow, we'll need openside cover during the world cup period.

Correct of course on the first point, poorly worded from myself.

Sam's correct that it's Ollie with Exeter Uni and Chiefs. Teddy was with Sale, got released but is shining at Loughborough.

Kit Smith is another that seems to have disappeared from what I've found. He joined Coventry last season but didn't make an appearance and is no longer on the website.

We've had so many talented back rows come through the academy though. Muncaster's ended up at Edinburgh of course. Tebbatt's doing well with Sale FC. Lewis now at Hartpury. Lavin at Loughborough. It's hard to argue the wrong horses were picked in Reffell, Martin and Ilione though. 3 outrageous back row talents 3 years apart in age.

Ah! Thanks for the clarification.

Lavin was only dropped because of his dreadful run of injuries, I'd be very keen to re-sign him and see if he can replicate the levels we've seen from his team mates at U-18s.
