Not sure we would need this to the same degree, but good luck to them, be interesting to see if it is good value.

Better if the club did something more like this rather than peddle the crypto scam.
Swansea Cricket & Football Club - The First British Club Side To Beat The All Blacks, Springboks & Wallabies.
The Ospreys The First Welsh Region To Beat A Touring Side
Leicester Football Club The First Back To Back Winners of The European Cup

Why don’t schools play rugby these days? Could ‘influencing’ in a good way PE teachers improve promotion of the game at root level

Because there isn’t time in the timetable, and my understanding is that teachers do not get paid for after school clubs these days.

You mean like the Henderson behind the scenes injury rehab series? Or the academy behind the scenes thing from a few years back?

Ah shame. We had choices in PE just after Noah launched the Ark. Soccer or rugby in winter, athletics or cricket in summer.

As far as I know, teachers were never paid for after school classes as they were salaried. They reacted against Kenneth Baker's insistence on accounting for their time. In addition, many school playing fields have gone.

Very true, I had Tom Pell a Tigers centre as games master and our old playing fields are now a housing estate, hard up councils sold off the sports fields, that's why public schools are in the fore front these days. We used to play against Uppingham and always won the fights, sometimes lost the games though.....................

I had Ray Needham as a teacher and a huge field, still no rugby for us.

There was a good article by Brendon Gallagher about this in The Rugby Paper a few weeks ago.

I had Ray too, through the 70s and we used to have to travel from town up to Narborough road to the large playing fields there, before the school moved to Glenfield road.

You need a rugby playing PE teacher. At my state school we have boys and girls playing and matches. At a previous school me and the Head of Maths tried to keep it going as the new head of PE was a footy boy. Most schools are selling off land and even buildings as they are stuffed for cash and 60% have major repairs. School gets the money if they were a specialist trust prior to 2010, i.e. most.

I was a music teacher who also played rugby - no formal qualification in coaching or refereeing rugby or football but did both out of my love of sport. Our Head of PE was a footie person when I was doing this and often we wanted the same boys (sorry - no girls rugby at my school 40 years ago). One interesting incident that happened was when I reffed a soccer match and that the majority of the boys were in my rugby team at the time. The dads who came to watch the game were the same dads who came to watch their sons playing rugby. Some started to hurl some abuse at the opposition and my ability with the whistle. I warned them and eventually banned them from the school site and the game did not continue until they had left. These were the same dads who were so polite when they came to watch a rugby match that had been abusive at the soccer match. A sad reflection on the attitude to the different sports.

When the 1265 working hours per year came in, staff stopped doing the Saturday morning or after-school matches, and however willing I was to continue - you just could not find opposition to play against. Thankfully several boys went on to play rugby at a high level including Tigers and one played in the Army team which played against the All Blacks.
Hehehehehehehehe

I also was initiated into the sport of Rugby by Tom Pell. I attended Lancaster Boys School, we played on Victoria Park. At thirteen I moved to Moat Boys an inner city school with no playing fields, games afternoons were a bus trip to playing fields on Welford Rd (now part of Knighton Park). We had a good rugby team and I believe the soccer team was pretty good as well.
