Preseason match 2 - Newcastle (H) - Friday 26th August 2022 - 7pm

Purely a guess, but as it seems the game against Nottingham has vanished, this weeks match v Newcastle will be our last run out before the season kicks, off, so will it be a "proper" game with a matchday 23 I wonder?
If so, do we go with our presumed matchday squad or are we still experimenting with players and positions I wonder?
I'd go with the full squad and hope to iron out any wrinkles before the season kicks off...................................that's assuming the season does actually kick off on time.

I did notice in the interviews after the Jersey game that Bondi did seem to indicate there was only 1 more game.
I would still expect to see a larger squad, with fitness permitting Kelly, Reffell getting a run.

Realistically against Chiefs I wouldn’t expect there to be too many changes. Maybe choices between Cronin/Whitcombe, Cracknell/Martin, and centres perm 2 from 4.
For me I would like to see a starting 15 something like.
Cronin, Claire, Cole, Wells, Snyman, Martin, Reffell, Liebenberg, Youngs, Burns, Nadolo, Kelly, Scott, Potter, Watson. Injuries permitting

IMO it is his best position. Moving forward a 4 lock group of Chessum x2 Martin and Henderson would be top drawer

I don't think he's had enough time there in senior games to say that for definite. But, it would be extremely helpful to have a flanker capable of comfortably playing there.

I think with Tigers squad somewhat depleted due to the returning internationals and injuries/knocks, it was decided that this was a game that wasn't needed, if it meant picking up other unnecessary niggles etc

I suspect they want it on the Thursday/Friday at WR so they are probably having a game with Nottingham behind closed doors, but doing that unofficially now. Which gives them more flexibility etc as to what to do ability to try combinations. Maybe play x3 40min segments with different teams in each etc etc.
