Always thought with wasps he avoided contact more due to his age but really was just game plan I guess
Gopperth is absolutely triangular up top - a photo from post friendly shows he’s seriously toned up…
He and Jimmy Anderson are fantastic examples of what can be achieved at that age if you look after your body properly
I said exactly that to my wife yesterday! Both of them have some miles left in them 👍

It does depend on whether the miles are on a bad road. I tell my Mrs the same to Hong but she gives me that 'never was a smooth highway' look.

Re Nadolo criticism - think you’re being a bit unfair. He’s clearly a bit trimmer than last season and on Friday I was impressed that he got to Radwan!

Agreed. Physically he looked in good condition but a bit rusty in terms of game time. He should be up to full speed pretty quick from here. All that was missing was one of his trademark big carries, he got chopped down a little easy though still got over the gain line regularly.

I'd have him in the 23 Vs Chiefs.

Few key tactical ones were interesting towards the end.

1. Kini coming on at Flanker (replaced Liebenburg)

2. Martin not L.Chessum packed down at 2nd row after Chessum replaced Wells.

3. Interesting to see Gopperth, Martin & Jansen given 80, though Gopperth may have been due to the injuries. (Possibly Scott did 80 too, wasn't 100% on who was playing in the centres with Cokanasiga at the end)
Kini packed down at 8 too, defensively at least! To be fair, he looked fine at 7 for the 2-25 minutes he was on; in the lineout he just goes into the 5 m channel or moves out to defend the 10 channel inside Gopperth (Tigers defended with Gopperth being the inside back all game with Burns outside him and Scott) :smt003

Just as interesting was your second point. At the same time L Chessum was packing down at 6 and this lost Martin's ability as a 6 at the scrum. I wonder if this is a perceived weakness of having Henderson and L Chessum scrum together at lock (at the moment) and Martin was brought in to "power" the TH side of the scrum.

I more saw Martin at lock because seeing him pack down there was a priority.

On defensive scrums you want the "non backrow" player at 8, as your key defensive players in a scrum are the flankers as they need to time getting out the scrum
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Possibly so. If you try and fit Martin, Hanro, Refell and Wiese on the pitch at the same time (which is more than likely) then the sensible move is that Martin moves into the second row at scrum time.

I know. I was just pointing out he was playing both. He'll be propping next. :smt002 :smt003
