Suggested out of Warriors forum that takeover is stalling because the 'cowboys' want to retain 15%.

If true can you business men/woman out there explain to me why they would want to retain any links to a business under scrutiny from the taxman? Is it a final roll of their weighted dice?

I’m no business man, but wouldn’t that 15% take a big hike in value once the new owners have covered all the debt? A last little golden parachute?
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Worcester have announced their team sheet for their PRC game tonight.

It includes only 22 players (no no.19)

1 player who is coming out of retirement Matt Gilbert (retired a year ago)

Their 41 year old backs coach Jonny Goodridge who last played a competitive game 9 years ago
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Also being reported in the news about the stumbling block on the deal being the current owners wanting to remain a small shareholder and on the board

Indeed they now have two deadlines

1. tommorow at noon to prove they can host a game at the weekend

2. Monday at midnight to prove they can pay wages etc going forwards

The Worcester news got it wrong. In the body of the story it gets it right. Worcester Warriors have until 5pm on Monday. It is the insurance cover that runs out at midnight.

Social media team covered 65% of the game and dropped the mic. Excellent 👌

Bristol boss saying increased revenue is needed across the game, as has been discussed in the worrying attendances thread, the games exposure is poor and it needs marketing better to increase interest, which should in turn increase bums on seats.....

IMO it is owners like him that have made the situation worse, by investing silly money that he is unlikely to get back, which the puts pressure on other sides to invest to compete.
Not sure where this increased revenue is going to come from for a game that has plenty of problems, be it clubs going out of business, serious injuries being sustained, in some cases life changing, and international players being banned for an action that deliberately injured another player. This also has the impact of turning potential viewers away from the game.
IMO rather than looking for further investment there should be widespread cost cutting and players value needs to be reevaluated

I agree on the cost cutting. Forget the current salary cap, have the cap set as a percentage of income. If clubs want to succeed, they will need to start getting people through the turnstyles to afford better players rather than take owner handouts or incur debt. At the moment, as long as the sugar daddy is prepared to lose a bit of money then there is no incentive to fill stadiums. Some of the attendances at clubs are simply embarassing.

I think that there is going to be an imminent reckoning regarding player wages as well. I really dont thing any club can afford more than £250000.00 per annum on one players wages, especially if they are away on international duty for half the season.
