Worcester’s woes

Re: Worcester’s woes
In reply to LE18 it won’t help raising each clubs salary cap by £400,000 because if Gloucester has lost that because of their fixture being cancelled then it will be around about £400,000 for Tigers on November the 5 for all other clubs.
I hope all the Worcester players and staff get employed soon.
Sad day for rugby union.
Secondly for those who talk about attendances being low due to the energy crisis etc then take a look at the attendances in Football’s League One last night where Ipswich had 26,000 and Plymouth 16,000( Cheltenham and Burton got below 5,000)!
England needs all the clubs to come up with a long term plan to make the game financially viable. Hopefully Wasps do have interested buyers but not like the Worcester owners!
Then there is the issue of making the game much safer in terms of head injuries!
Lots to sort out and quickly!

The good news (if there is any for Worcester today) is that the administrators in an interview this afternoon have confirmed that they have secured the stadium and the land as part of the sale package of the club, which will at least make any purchase viable.

Fantastic bit of journalism and shows how deep this scam runs...loretta wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 8:05 am https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/ ... ubs-demise

Raises a question though if the Guardian knew what was looking dodgy 18 months ago and no-one seemed to have done anything?

Problem is, I'm not sure there is a club to buy anymore, there are now no players or staff as all contracts have been terminated. The whole mess seems to be less about Rugby's general finances and more about the impact of Covid exposing a scam.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Wed Oct 05, 2022 10:40 pm https://twitter.com/Mcossalifrancis/sta ... a-Htw&s=19

There may be no players or staff, but if they get control of the company AND it comes with a ground, stadium, training facilities and car-park they can then re-sign players.daktari wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:23 amProblem is, I'm not sure there is a club to buy anymore, there are now no players or staff as all contracts have been terminated. Then it is more attractive if it comes with the P shares too as that is additional income.
Players can then be re-signed or new ones signed. Think there's about 40 free agents from last season looking for clubs.
However for there to be time to sign players and staff the deal pretty much needs to be over the line in the next few days getting the stadium and facilities back up and running.

Re: Worcester’s woes
I see the BBC are reporting Coventry City Council 'may have right to force stadium ownership' forfeit...so one club without a team and one club without a stadium....Worcester Wasps anyone...

Re: Worcester’s woes
I think the Worcester owners suggested it and Wasps rejected it out of hand.

Re: Worcester’s woes
I guess the issue is that Wasps would not have the money to buy the stadium out of administration and so, unless Sixways finds an owner that would rather have Wasps as tenants than try and rebuild Worcester, I cannot see that happening

https://www.planetrugby.com/news/premie ... iquidation. I have read this article and it is a very good one and makes lots of interesting points in relation to owners, the board, RFU, PRL, and Sport England. This whole debacle needs an open and very public inquiry and not one done by the oldies in Twickenham.
Hehehehehehehehe
Re: Worcester’s woes
Sadly, the realist in me looks at this and thinks, it is rugby. Nobody outside of the RFU is going to care enough to spend money on an enquiry that would probably cost more than any money lost by HMRC or in Covid loans. The only way that this gets investigated is if someone can find and aspect that the police need to look at and whilst the actions of the owners may be seen as dispicable, none of them appear criminal.trendylfj wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 11:53 am https://www.planetrugby.com/news/premie ... iquidation. If this were a football club, even lower league, there would have been 'save our club' new stories everywhere, questions at all levels, full judicial enquiries the works. Sadly, with other sports, there is a bit of coverage about how sad it is once it is all over but very little else and it will not even appear on sites outside of rugby forums by the weekend.

Some genuinely positive news...
The two cowboys have today been removed as directors from MQ Property Ltd. (The company set up by the cowboys that owned Sixways) and that is now under the control of the administrators.
So sounds like all facilities will be going with the club sale...
