Hooker: Clare, Dolly, Theobald-Thomas, Montoya,
Props: Cole, Cronin, Heyes, Hurd, Richardson, Whitcombe,
Locks: O.Chessum, Green, Henderson, Martin, Wells,
Back Row: Cracknell, Hatherhall, Liebenberg, Reffell, Wiese
Scrum Half: Simmons, van Poortvliet, Whiteley, Youngs
Fly Half: Atkinson, Pollard
Centre: Cokanasiga, Kelly, Porter, Scott,
Winger: Basset, Hassel-Collins, Potter, Simmons
Full Back: Brown, Shillcock, Steward,
So looking at that list, we potentially won’t have, until their Nations are knocked out of RWC, and some are only possible

Montoya, Cole, Chessum(Martin), Henderson, Reffell, Wiese, JVP, Youngs, Pollard, Kelly, OHC, Steward.

Think Gopperth and Ilione should be added to next season’s roster too

on he discussion of our options in the Row Henderson is the reason I back Lewis Chessum now, I'm sure in person he's built out of granite but next to the other 2nd row options he looks quite slender, Lewis is already taller than his brother and I see no reason he needs to bulk up when I look at Henderson play to such a high level

Henderson put in some thunderous shots in on Saturday

exactly you don't need to carry a load of bulk to hit hard is my point

If you compare Lewis to Cunningham South, different positions I know, who has already played in a number of premiership games, I would say Lewis had a bigger physical impact during the u20 campaign

I'd also doubt very much that Lewis Chessum weighs less 18 and a half stone. He might fill out a little more and tip over 19 stone but he's a big lad and experience will be more useful than anything else at this point in his development.

chessum looks to be in the henderson mould who looks to be similar to doddie all arms and legs and not much else didnt do him much harm lacking the bulk. i think when your that tall the height makes you look thinner than you are. I think he will turn out to be a important player at the start of next season

I mean it's not just weight though, it's about power with that weight.
Lewis is what around 6ft 9. He looked very good at U20 level but he's also going to be considered one of the biggest lads at that level.
Henderson is what around 6ft 6 18 stone 8, he's not the biggest but he isn't what I call lanky, Henderson gets very low to the ground in his carries which makes him a very dynamic carrier. He was also making his breakthrough at what around late 21/22.

Chessum from what I saw at U20's level is quick especially for his size , but is quite an upright runner and really seemed to excel at the nitty gritty stuff.
He will prob need to put on a bit more to be an effective lock. His brother did the same thing despite being smaller.

Granted I trusted the coaches opinion.

Sounds like Wigglesworth dead bat to Watson's future...

my overall point is this, part of the reason we fell away for so long was the academy pipeline was shut off, part of the reason we re-emerged was it was re-opened spectacularly, we should be looking for ways to keep that going, if we have injuries we should trust the development players to fill in instead of going for someone from outside to come in for a few short weeks.

Unless of course the difference in quality is the same as Mike Brown to the development squad at full back. But I doubt we would find a lock of that quality on the open market at this stage of the season as Brown is clearly still good enough to start for a top side

It seems hard to believe that we'd sign OHC, Bassett and Shilcock, keep Brown AND re-sign Watson. That's a lot of salary cap in the back three. Although, we don't appear to have academy grads that are ready to step up in those positions.
