Saints must be planning something big to let their marquee player go in the middle of a season. He's been consistently brilliant for them.

May be alone in this but I think it is sensible. Yes, he has been superb for them but after injury he will be away at the Autumn Internationals and then the 6 Nations and will have rest periods as well. Based on that, they are saving about half of what is probably a pretty big salary for what is only going to be a few matches. In the current situation, I think it is quite a shrewd move to let him go now

It's a brave move when his replacement is 20 years old. A season learning off of the incumbent Lions 10 after being at a club where losing was the norm would have done him good. If Saints are releasing Biggar early then they really should be looking at fixing issues in their squad at prop and 12. West and Odendaal are still on the market.GB72 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 1:43 pmCrumblingTerrace wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 1:34 pm Saints must be planning something big to let their marquee player go in the middle of a season. Don't forget they still have Grayson, he has a lot of experience.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 6:37 pmIt's a brave move when his replacement is 20 years old. But is still relatively young and Saints fans see him as a bit of a Jordan Crane - you either love him or hate him. There seems to be very little in between.LE18 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 9:46 pmDon't forget they still have Grayson, he has a lot of experience.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 6:37 pmIt's a brave move when his replacement is 20 years old. He's certainly got talent but he's also prone to errors and is unlikely to develop past good club level player. Ideal back up but not really first choice for a team that wants to challenge the top 4.longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 5:51 amBut is still relatively young and Saints fans see him as a bit of a Jordan Crane - you either love him or hate him. They could go with Furbank at 10 if Freeman recovers soon. Being able to field both Hendy and Freeman in the back three would provide a lot positional strength and counter attacking ability whilst Furbank does pretty well for Saints at 10.

Good luck, looks like a mess there at the moment.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 9:56 amWork as an assistant to Peel.

No word on the length of the deal though yet. Looks initially like it could be short term initially then dependent on the outcome of the Wasps takeover and whether a new owner would look to take him straight back to head up a new coaching team.longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:26 amFrying pan into fireWayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:11 amGood luck, looks like a mess there at the moment.
Good for him and Everard though, as it was appalling timing for them in terms of moving into similar coaching roles (ok, there's never a good time to lose your job).

Not really. Scarlets are unlikely to go bankrupt and make him redundant. At least this way he's back earning a pay cheque not far from home.longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:26 amFrying pan into fireWayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:11 amGood luck, looks like a mess there at the moment.
There's some issues at the Scarlets but the positive spin from that is any improvements would be attributed to him coming in and if they continue to suffer it was like that when he got there. No reputational damage likely. It's a transitional period for Scarlets, some big names coming to the end with the young guys not quite moulded into a firing outfit.

Bath rumoured to be favourites to sign Barbeary after he finishes this season in France.
