The talk is Jordie is a stopgap until Dmac arrives the season after next

My nipper just sent me the full strength Leinster side. Salary cap? Level playing field? It's a sick joke!

Seriously it's like someone's got a fantasy rugby game with a cheat code.RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 8:05 pm The talk is Jordie is a stopgap until Dmac arrives the season after next

Well I think that was his point. I suggested he quit drinking Guinness as a protest......he said he wasn't that upset.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:22 pmWell there isn't one in the URC. Leinster's salary spend is allegedly around the 10m Euros mark. More in line with the French clubs.

It was around that in 2018-2020. It’ll be a bit more by now I’d have thought.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:22 pmWell there isn't one in the URC. Leinster's salary spend is allegedly around the 10m Euros mark. More in line with the French clubs.

To be fair there's better English stouts.Big Dai wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:25 pmWell I think that was his point. Leinster do benefit from having so many players on Irish central contracts. Effectively helps keep those players at below market rate and with all their sponsorship etc they can then go on these spending sprees and sign up all their developing talent. To be fair their development pathways are ridiculously good.

Leinster don't have infinitely deep pockets, like most clubs COVID probably put a damper on their spending in the short term. Seems they are getting over it now though.LekkerTigers wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:50 pmIt was around that in 2018-2020. Bath confirm Molony
I know Barf fans are excited but to me honestly this feels like a signing we would've made pre Borthwick. Good squad player but just a solid level starter. I guess it depends on how Bath view him in the depth chart but looking at their locks I would say he's prob gonna be a starter. I'm not saying he's a poor player but he has never really started in any of the big finals for Leinster, like Jack Dunne at Exeter I feel if it wasn't for the fact he is from Leinster people wouldn't be excited about it.

I suppose only being a squad player for Leinster means you are going to be behind a couple of internationals and likely good enough to start for a number of other sidesRagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:06 am Bath confirm Molony

That's the logic, but I don't feel it's paid off that often.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:19 amI suppose only being a squad player for Leinster means you are going to be behind a couple of internationals and likely good enough to start for a number of other sidesRagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:06 am Bath confirm Molony

Can't think of a single squad player at Leinster who has gone on to be that successful elsewhere in recent times.

John Cooney? You're right though, the best talent stays at Leinster and their leavers tend to be looking for significant contracts to finish their careers.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:30 amThat's the logic, but I don't feel it's paid off that often.Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:19 amI suppose only being a squad player for Leinster means you are going to be behind a couple of internationals and likely good enough to start for a number of other sidesRagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 10:06 am Bath confirm Molony

Bath sign Guy Pepper from Newcastle on a three year deal.
Another good signing...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022
He's an uncapped 20 year old. He'll be there as rotation initially and likely taking Cloete's spot in the squad. it's not like Pepper is going to be massively expensive, Falcons apparently offered to match what Bath were offering (deal done before Diamond joined).Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:32 pmBeen mentioned in dispatches for a while though only just confirmed. He won’t be going there as back up he’s too good, so wonder if it indicates Underhill moving on
Given that opensides cop just about the most injuries going and Underhill in particular has no luck plus England commitments fitting them both into the squad shouldn't be an issue.
