Good move for all concerned. An England call up looks unlikely, not exactly tearing up tress with Glaws. Perhaps all parties cutting their losses and him going back to France is the way forward.

I doubt Glaws would allow him to leave for free and Mercer would stick here in England if he were to leave Glaws. Either New Zealand (where he'd be eligible to switch nationality for the ABs) or back to France where Top14 clubs would be queuing up to offer him serious cash.

I too, would be delighted if he were to play for Tigers, but I believe that his contract at Gloucester has another couple of seasons to run.
